why post a phone conversation for every one to read if you drop out.
So other can see what they will be up against if they try to cancel, and that the "you will get a phone call" tactic is just stalling.

This conversation was a follow up to an earlier chat which, after a twenty minute wait, went on for more than half an hour as I tried to find out how I could cancel my subscription. I learned there that you stick to what you want and avoid being diverted.

Given that there is much talk on this forum about alternatives to Adobe, I though my experience might be useful for others. Sorry if it wasted your time.
I share your opinion. Thanks for informing us.
 
Last week I spent forty five minutes on Adobe "support" chat, trying to find out how to cancel my CC Subscription; given that the advertised cancel button does not appear on my account page. After being asked for my phone number, being told how great their products are, and generally messed around; I was told that the only way to cancel was to use the chat facility...

After evaluating and deciding upon alternatives (ACDsee Pro and Afffinity), I settled down today for another session with the support chat.

The short version: I was told that the only way I could cancel was to wait for a phone call. Then after some grumbling my subscription was discontinued without a cancellation fee!

I am left with the impression that, given the chance, Adobe will make things as difficult as possible for you to cancel. I will never deal with them again.

The long version:

Subrata: Thank you for contacting Adobe membership services.
Subrata: Hi there, How are you doing today ?
Hugh Denholm: Please cancel my subscription.
Subrata: Sure I will check it for you.
Subrata: Please allow me 1-2 minutes to review your account details.

Ah, yes. Adobe cancellations... years ago, when Adobe introduced the rental thing, I wanted my account deleted. Support could really *not* believe, I really, really wanted to leave.... required a supervisor at the end! :-D

But if you want to uninstall and remove *all* leftovers from Adobe, then you'll find that "hours" will be far from enough to do the trick... I spent two nights before my discs were clean...

Maybe their model isn't really a subscription plan, but a timeshare.
Open your eyes... it's not just 'Adobe', you think these companies are separate entities? You don't think they don't colaborate amongst themselves way ahead of time? They all work together! Meaning everything has to work in sync. If there was no Broadband there would be no "cloud". It's a coincidence that the new "laptops" coming out seemingly to replace what we know as laptops aren't really what we think of as laptops at all... Chromebooks. No built in HardDrive, everything in the "cloud". Just wait... you'll see. When it's too late!

Only a few years ago people were up in arms that the new "model" was it won't run (X-Box games console?) unless connected to the internet. Today, people don't give it a second thought. People were up in arms when it was announced with Windows 10 you had to accept updates as and when they come onto your machine. "Security updates" yadda yadda.

Instead of working with what you got you blindly THINK you need the latest and greatest. Always chasing. Never content to sit down and learn what you already have. Why do you even NEED to upgrade? You already have EVERYTHING you need!
Don't sign up because Adobe will ask you not to leave couple of times if you sign out. Oh the humanity. There is real hatred for Adobe for the slightest thing.

Anyone ever deal with Apple support? I could have written this whole thread when they put me on hold to "look it up". I cringe if I have to call them.

Dude, Adobe isn't a person. Why so protective? For your information I grew up on Adobe software starting with Photoshop V3, After Effects, Illustrator, etc, etc in the mid 90's when I was in College. I also learned Macromedia Flash and Dreamweaver like the back of my hand. Also in a couple of prominent companies I worked for. It was all about Adobe and Quark software... This was back in the day when it was looking back now, a different way of life completely. You would "own your house", today, not even do you not pay a mortgage off, BUT NOW RENT THIS ****... ENDLESSLY. It's gone from "owning a house" to "renting an apartment". Even if you rent it for 25 years if you miss a month's rent, you are homeless.

If YOU are happy with that, then all I can say is... sucker.
I was thinking about how to respond to the sucker response. I guess you will try and tell me have no monthly charges for phone, cable or internet, ec. If you don't how are you posting here?

I'm not done with my airing of grievances. Festivas for the rest of us. :-)

Capture Pro One is terrible. Why do they keep sending me emails reminding me my trial period is almost over and to buy it. Are they trying to scare me into thinking I'm not going to by able to buy it once it expires. Why do I keep these annoying emails.

I noticed that Capture also offers subcritptfion as well. What happens if I buy it for $300 and another $100 for a pending update and they go full subscription in 8 months. Will the sky fall.

About 5 days ago I decided I will stay with Adobe so I dragged Capture into App Delete and about 10 items appeared which I deleted. I was having some computer issues over the weekend and I started finding random Capture files all over. I had to spend time looking around to get rid of them.

Then I wanted to use Canon's DPP. I notice arrows and when I clicked on them and a Capture file was attached to it. To all the files I worked on so I had to clean all those up.

Hours of work. Maybe I should have started a thread to tell everyone how invasive Capture is.

I tried DXO too so when I was searching for Capture I found files too.
 
It is sometimes beneficial that credit cards are compromised so often. Just don't update your card data in six months or so at the next hack. Call Adobe once at the end of your contract to tell them you will not be renewing. The shoe will be on the other foot then as they try to get updated information and you give them the runaround. :-).

There was an episode of Seinfeld years ago like that. The cable company wanted to get a cable box from Kramer, but he kept being out when they came to pick it up. The cable guy really got annoyed that Kramer wasn't there when he said he would be. :-)

Your like a dog with a bone Zeee, for someone who continually states they have no love for Adobe, you spend a hell of a lot of time defending them, in fact looking at your history you only seem to respond to posts when it involves Adobe. No 1 When anyone wants to cancel a subscription regardless of company the cancel sign should not be greyed out which it is on the Adobe website. Now you are whingeing and belly aching about Capture , at least Phase give there customers a choice unlike Adobe. Also with Capture1 you have the option to upgrade every two years and unlike you I don't pluck prices out of the cloud, I have never paid anything like $100 for any update from Phase. Before you call me an Adobe basher I have been using Photoshop ( Adobe's Flagship)from day one. I use Capture 1 in conjunction with Photoshop cs6 before you ask and no I don't use Lightroom anymore not since version 5.7.1. Subscription was brought in by Adobe to mainly facilitate people who couldn't afford there over the top prices so naturally a lot of people were happy all of sudden they could now use these programmes which for the most part were out of reach. Unfortunately with subscription the rules change they only favour the company who instigates them, the company is no longer obligated to put out any meaning full updates. In case it slipped your mind the word Indefinitely to Adobe means approx. 2-3 years that's what they stated about Lightroom standalone version, how long do you think "CLASSIC" will last before you start paying Cloud Storage, higher Internet costs, and wondering how long it takes to download your images from the Cloud.

Why would I respond to any others. I don't know anything about other software. I only tell the facts about Adobe which which have been all over place. I help out with the product if I can. Some asked about a DPP product last and I helped out as much as I could.

I have have no issues with someones future concerns. You haven't read too many of my posts have you. If $10 a month is too much, the idea of subscription idea does sit well with you or you just don't like the product then don't get it. All valid reasons. I don't care what anyone uses as long as they don't run a product down for the wrong reasons.They are going to steal your pictures. No they won't. They can't if you store locally even if you use the cloud. That is a fact.

My griping about Capture was a joke and an example. Did you want me to type everything I had to do and post it for the drama? Why the need to post a phone conversation transcript. Just say Adobe is pain in the A$$ and tried to lure me in a few times and they suck. Good enough.

I just went through that. Someone tried to use my number in Jakarta 3 weeks ago. Second time in 2 years. I payed for plan for whole year using PayPal with the new card. Who knows who gets hacked these days, and if they even if they even tell you. First they have to sell off shares like Equinox did.

I have have no issues with someones future concerns. You haven't read too many of my posts have you. If $10 a month is too much, the idea of subscription idea does sit well with you or you just don't like the product then don't get it. All valid reasons. I don't care what anyone uses as long as they don't run a product down for the wrong reasons.They are going to steal your pictures. No they won't. They can't if you store locally even if you use the cloud. That is a fact.

My griping about Capture was a joke and an example.
And mine about Adobe was to ? A pretty silly example don't you think or not.
CS2 in 2005 and LR5 in 2012 and all the upgrades not to mention other developers and plugins I spent a lot of money on.

I never said you were an Adobe basher. I have on these forums for 3 weeks now and since the LR CC Classic was announced the sky has been falling. They are going to kidnap your family.

My only beef was why post the entire 3 minute conversation of a cancellation where someone tried to encourage you to not leave a few times when this happens everywhere. There is a person on the other end who doesn't care and follows a script.

Jeez I posted with all service krap I've had to deal with over the years that would be all I'd be doing. The OP called me fool about the cloud and did even what he/she was talking about. Don't care about the name calling. Have had far worse in the old OT forum.
Did you want me to type everything I had to do and post it for the drama? Why the need to post a phone conversation transcript. Just say Adobe is pain in the A$$ and tried to lure me in a few times and they suck. Good enough.
