Various people are looking for an alternative to Lightroom but what about Elements?

Sure, that is not a subscription product, at least not yet but I am at least thinking about replacing that also.

Any suggestions on this, please?

Thanks.

If you want something super easy that allows you to not only do the basics, yet allow for SOME level of sophistication, AND a path for more serious work, I'd suggest PaintShop Pro. It has a basic organizer that is better than Elements, BUT it also has not only the full featured editor, but a tab for super easy editing. perfect for beginners who want to start slowly and work their way up to more serious work.

If you are already a reasonably advanced user, and don't need a lot of handholding, I'd suggest ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2018. It has a top tier DAM tool, excellent raw development and a sophisticated editor that can do layers, and support Photoshop plugins.

I would also suggest you look at Affinity Photo. It's $49 and works in a similar manner to Photoshop, so coming from Elements it would be familiar. They have a free 10-day (too short!) trial available.

I would also recommend Affinity Photo. I've used ELements for years, but Affinity is cheaper and much more powerful. I haven't used Elements once since I bought Affinity Photo.

I would say Affinity Photo and Luminar for raw conversion. Luminar gets you there fast and easy and Affinity Photo for indepth editing. Best of both worlds. No DAM tool though.

Both cost about the same as Elements but offer way more.

I too like Luminar, was ready to Pre-order yesterday until… trying out ON1 Photo RAW 2018. Just wow!

Actual Reality > Virtual Reality
- I admire The Creator's creation, not so much (hu)man-made disposables.
That's probably why I am more interested in decent end-result Photography over the technology that was used to produce it.
DSLR > 'Mirrorless'
- Mirrorless? You mean Optical Viewfinder-less. An EVF is like having a VR headset on instead of using your own eyes to view what is.
For those with eyes…
Actual Reality > Virtual Reality
How is speed? That was one of the archiles heels of the program. I know it depends on the type of raw.

Siraj,

Can Affinity perform HDR, focus stacking, pano stitching and can it exist as a stand alone program?

Thank you,
