Hello guys,

I am back ;-)

I know this one is not truly B&W, but the colors are just there to bring a lit bit more pops to the shot, nothing more. I tried a B&W conversion, but I decided keeping the colors for that one.

Welcome back :)

Despite the heavy grey tones, this is very definitely a color image and should be placed elsewhere.

That said, I really love the composition here and the image as a whole. +1. That said, it's still not a B&W image.

Cheers,
So did you keep it as 100% color or just do selective color on the various parts? To me, it looks like monochrome except for the greenery and pottery.

And yes, it's not B&W as ADmint has said - belongs somewhere else.

100% color

Sorry. I though it was close enough though ;-)

Black and white images are often toned. I am a bit more loose in what is black and white and while this is a color image the over all effect is that of a monotone.

and I think the composition is excellent.

Yes, I understand people's arguments on what true B&W is though. To me that sample was kind of borderline.
and I think the composition is excellent.
Thanks!

Well, if I'm being totally honest, it seems like your stuff belongs here anyhow.

although it is not bw, it is good food for thought. Posting of something that does not belong from a strict interpretation happens more often than we would realize and across the forums. Most monitors seem to let them stay as the posts make some kind of relevant contribution. I say this as a moderator who has two other forums - Sigma and Landscape. So in this case, I see this image as one that makes a positive contribution. I realize that there are those who will disagree with me including other monitors.

I think this is getting a bit heavier than need be. No one is strictly looking at the world as black and white. If they are they're just being closed minded. This however, does not negate the fact that some things simply have a place of their own.

Anyway we just want to stick to the intent of the forum - Black and White Photography. Nothing complicated here.

We all acknowledged the image as excellent; it's just not a B&W image. That's the point ;-)

Peace:)
