Put the RX10iv to a good workout this weekend at 3 days of a Hunt/Fish/Adventure camp for children of Fallen U.S. Soldiers with a non-profit foundation called A Soldier's Child Foundation (http://asoldierschild.org A Soldier's Child Foundation currently supports 3,000 children in all 50 U.S. states) Typically I donate between 250-300 hours of my time a year shooting stills and video of events for ASC

Conditions ranged from full sun to rain (camera not covered) stills inside dark camp-style buildings to Golf with WW2/Korean/Vietnam Vets to tactical 1000yd rifle range to high speed zip-lining. The RX10iv perform phenomenally. I was most impressed by the AF-C tracking and 24fps Raw's output of the kids flying toward me on zip-lines (which was what I'd hoped for with my upgrade from RX10iii)

NBC Nightly News was also there for 3 days shooting a feature that will air in a few weeks. There will be footage I shot for them with the RX10 used during the feature in several places.

Full gallery of photos from the weekend can be viewed at: http://www.501concepts.com/Clientaccess/Asoldierschildfoundation/2017-Hunt-Fish-Camp/

I haven't even looked at your gallery yet, but good on you for your support of such a great cause! Thanks for your service!

Thanks. I started working with them almost 5 years ago.

Great photos. The World needs more people like you!!!

I think the first photo is fantastic. To get so many people looking at the camera and all their faces being visible is not easy. I like the colour, I like how the people are arranged, I like your viewpoint. In short it's a cracking image to be proud of.

Just a wee touch of single image hdr interpretation?

I often use Topaz Adjust's hdr filtration to get more pop in my images. Used to use LucisArt for similar, but more dramatic results.

Very enjoyable set.

Not a whole lot done to it... and this is pretty much my editing style. I'm not mr. soft and subtle colors. I'm mr. pop and sharpness in most situations.

It was edited in Capture One and other than almost maxing Highlights and Shadows because it was mid-day and there were some trees behind me causing shadows. I did also pop a bit of TTL flash at -1 from a Godox on-camera flash.

There were two additional layers in Capture One... One to brighten a few faces that were shadowed and One to darken a few faces that were to bright. Not much of either though.

Thanks for sharing.

We can't always choose the time of day or lighting conditions under which we shoot - you made the best of the, I'm sure, contrasy light.

Thanks.

Fantastic images. I really like the cinematic "pop" in your processing. Well-composed as well.

It's great that you volunteer your time and talents so generously for a worthy cause.

Great series and I too like the post processing.

Great shots!

And, thank you for supporting such a wonderful organization.

Those are some of the first pictures I have seen that really show the focusing capabilities of this camera. Def a skilled eye and a great piece of equipment. Now I am back to considering it again. Damn.. Seems like an amazing charity for these children. Must be kinda exciting to have some of the work picked up by a network.

Well done!

It is.

I also shoot for non-profits of David Price (RedSox pitcher) and Logan Ryan (2x Superbowl Champ) here around Nashville. In the past year I've had photos and brief appearances on ESPN several times, Animal Planet, RedSox website, and some others I cant remember at this early moment.

Saturday night will be interesting. I'll be shooting a Conference USA football game for Middle Tennessee State University that's honoring 30 Soldier's Child Foundation children by putting their parents name on helmets, etc. Pregame and Halftime ceremonies, and all access for shooting the game.

That will most likely test what the RX10iv can do. I shoot quite a bit of action type things, but college level football is something i've not shot before.

I would be very interested in seeing some of the college bowl shots you get, and to see how the AFC system works for you during this shoot. Hopefully you can share some of those and tell us how your hit rate was on the focus.

Thanks.

I was looking at channel 4 nightly news last night when the last group photo apppeared on the screen. I remembered that was your beautiful photo I saw on this post and the camp event was to be televised.

I was glad they gave the amount of coverage they did for something that helps these children with their tremendous loss. Thank you for the link to the organization and for your generous support and help in making their loss more manageable.

Sincerely,

Mina

Cracker images of what looks like a really great charity who really put into the next generation. Love the photos, but please pardon me from cringing when I see young kids being shown how to use semi-automatic weapons!

I know you guys are all very protective of your Second Amendment over there, but for someone who has seen the horrors and senseless insanity caused by the (Tasmania/Australia) Port Arthur massacre where a mentally-deranged lunatic murdered 33 innocent men, women and children, and almost daily we see so many similar acts being carried out in your country - it really worries me to see the 'next generation' being introduced to potential instruments of mass murder. I will get back down from my soap box - I am not out to offend anyone by making this comment, but for me, it makes the world a scarier place.

God Bless the service men and women, including police and emergency service personnel who risk their lives to protect us. I think the charity you assisted here though (with the exception of my comment above) appear to be doing outstanding work. You have captured the essence of that superbly! Well done!
