I downloaded the "free" NIK package and when I tried to use it, I received the following alert:

What did I do wrong? I thought there was supposed to be no charge?

BTW, I was able to load it into AP with no problem.

Another observation (forgot to write it in my original posting).

If I click on Demo, the plug-in works fine, if I click on Buy, nothing happens, I just get a white screen.

What URL are you using to get the files?

DxO now has a page to get the current Nik Collection (https://nikcollection.dxo.com/ ). They say that it is still free. It appears that you can also still download it from the google page: https://www.google.com/nikcollection/ . Neither of these pages show a 'buy' and 'demo' button.

Thank you.

Here is the latest;

Installs free in CS6

Affinity Photo I still get the Buy/Demo Alert.

When I click on Buy, I get a blank screen and nothing happens. When I click on Demo, I get the 14 Day Trial left alert

Is it working properly in CS6? If so, have you pointed AF to the CS6 install folder?

Works fine in Photoshop 2017 and the LR version before the latest upgrades (I haven't upgraded yet). It also works in Capture One and Topaz Studio. So, if it won't install for free in Affinity, that may be an issue with Affinity.

I previously owned (before AP) the entire NIK collection. All I can think is the NIK recognizes my previous registration for CS6 but not for AP.

In my advanced state of paranoia, all I can is that the Santa Jose monster is in collusion with Google. After all they live just a few miles apart. :-D

I thought that Capture One would not accept 3rd party plug-ins. And, would only work with NIK (and others) as a stand alone.
I'm not nbirkett, but if the Plugin has a stand alone option as many do, you can run it from C1 with the "edit with" command.

C1 creates a TIF of the file you are working on, in the C1 catalogue, then opens it in the stand alone version of the plugin.

After you do the plugin adjustments you just use the "save" to save those adjustments to the TIF that is already in the C1 catalogue, where you can then carry on working with the now adjusted TIF in C1.

In practice its not really that different from using the Plugin with LR/PS. The only disadvantage is that with PS you then have an option of adjusting the strength of the plugins effects through controlling the Opacity, but you don't have that option with C1.

Other than that they work just as you would expect a Plugin to work, and I certainly have got into the habit of saying things like "running DXO as a plugin from C1" (though in this case its the raw file that gets sent to DXO) or running Silver Efex as a plugin from C1, even though strictly they aren't plugins.

Cheers,

Graham

I have had this problem with AP too, I had installed by copieing Google folder that is installed in Elements and installed into AP. But I have just tried to use it again and I get the message my trial has expired, Buy or Exit, as you say Buy leads to a blank page in Safari.

I found it very hard to get the plugins installed in AP. I had used the Preferences window and selected "Allow unknown plugins to be used" and navigated to the Nik apps and these appeared in the Preferences list but with a Tiff open and going to Filters > Plugins nothing was there. Only when I found the Google folder in Elements and copied this could AP recognise it.

I am on iMac Sierra 10.12.6 if you find the answer I would like to know thank you.

Dave.

Not this helps any, other than adding to the complexity of the problem.

I don't use AP very often but just launched it to see I have the same poblem and my copies of Color efex, Silver efex, and Viveza, all opened and ran fine.

They have all been installed for some time now. This is a Mac Mini with el capitan.

Thank you, can you remember how you got them to install into AP.
I can't, but I do know I just followed the instructions that Serif provide on installing Plugins.

I supect this is what I followed

This isn't the Affinity instructions but its more up to date

Hope this helps

Cheers,

Graham

Lifde is short, so I decided to use the NIK tools as a Stand-Alone from Capture 1. I will continue to poke at it and if I stumble on a solution, I'll post it.

I had recently reinstalled AP and had to reinstall Nik in my plugins on my Windows 10 machine. I had downloaded the Nik plugins form the Google site, and installed them. I then opened AP went to preferences/plugins, selected add, went to the Google folder where they're stored, selected them. Selected "Allow unknown plugins to be used", and haven't had a problem with them. I didn't select each individual plugin, I selected the whole group in my program files/Google/Nik collection. It is working fine on my computer, no problems here.

I have now used the 2 links and have sucsesfully reinstalled Nik and all is working well.

Thank you.

Dave.

I have reinstalled using the links provided by rd52 and all is working well, so would recommend you try it, not too hard.
