1) Is there a way to DELETE ALL photos instead of one at a time??

2) Copyright information under tools. There is a Embed Copyright Data checkbox. Then next below it says Photographer, then below another option that says Copyright Holder. Since I have my own photography company how can I use each of these functions and what does each of these functions do? I'm completely new at this.

3) There is a Live View Flicker Reduction 50/60hz. This doesn't have anything to do with anti-flicker does it? Can I assume that this camera does not have anti-flicker capability?

4) Is there a way to boost the brightness of the AF points just a bit?

5) I'm in love with this camera. It feels so damn solid like a TRUE Pro body. This thing makes me feel like I'm a Marine or something and I can just imagine how this feels with a 70-200mm on it.

6) I'm in my office, in the same spot where I tested the D500 several months ago before returning it and the lights are all off with only the computer monitor on and the K1 AF freacking locks when the D500 and my D4 do not. That's right, the D5 with it's "D5 AF" hunted and would not lock where this K1 does! I'm really impressed.

7) My pentax 24-70 auto focus is SPOT ON and don't need fine tuning. This is great.

8) I'm going to be shooting all day tomorrow with this baby. I feel like a real excited kid! :)

9) If pentax does come out with an improved K1 successor I'll buy it. H**L yes! Give me improved AF with a joystick and more spread AF points and bye bye Nikon.

Why hasn't anyone suggested press play then press menu then arrow down 3 times and you can delete all images without having to format
Those are 8 whole steps to get there brother and not efficient. But yeah that works too.
Gee... it didn't seem like that many steps, must be so second nature to me i don't notice it.
ozdean already provided the answer. I have to invite him to a beer. ;-)

When viewing a pic press info button towic to zoom in out.

A featureI found it accidently.

Most questions already answered, but here's my view...
...

1) Is there a way to DELETE ALL photos instead of one at a time??
I just format. Just deleting might lead to slow downs when writing; it usually doesn't, but I'd rather not
2) Copyright information under tools. There is a Embed Copyright Data checkbox. Then next below it says Photographer, then below another option that says Copyright Holder. I don't use them, but my understanding is that Embed Copyright Data option writes both of these in the exif meta data. I think the idea for both is so a company can hold the copyright separately from the recorded photographer.
3) There is a Live View Flicker Reduction 50/60hz. This doesn't have anything to do with anti-flicker does it? Can I assume that this camera does not have anti-flicker capability?
The K-1 has two flicker reduction settings. One for photo LV, the other for video LV. Why they are separate, I don't know. They basically set the LCD refresh and video shutter rates to either 50 or 60 Hz. Set them both to your country's power grid frequency to reduce seeing flicker in the LV LCD and video. (or if you don't do video, you can ignore the video flicker reduction setting.) Are either of these what you mean by anti-flicker?

Not being able to see the AF points in the dark took its toll on me and caused me to sell the camera. For your sake I hope Pentax can come up with a firmware to get around this problem.
I can completely understand that. If I had very bad vision I would have a hard time too. having said that, I mostly shoot dancing events and usually there is some light so I'm okay and I'm not planning in letting go of this thing. For the money this is just one true amazing camera.

Batdude, you’re not the only one with a new K1! Mine arrived the day before yesterday, just in time for a few fall colours shots. It replaces a Nikon D800 - same megapixels, different colour response (both cameras very likeable). What sets it apart for me is the totally different, absolutely fantastic user experience, especially for landscapes, which is what I like to shoot the most. As a matter of fact, the demo I was loaned by my local dealer sold me the camera because it was so much fun to use and because I didn’t need a manual to be up and running right away. I am , however, reading the manual to find out as much as I can about all the various features.

I had Ricoh and Pentax film cameras in university. The K1 makes me feel like I’ve finally come home.

Happy shooting!!

That's awesome.

Yes the K1 has completely different color tones than my D4. More alive and punchy. Huge difference and I'm loving it because this is the camera I have been looking for so many years.

A pleasure Batdude - there are lots more goodies for you to discover!

All you have to do is thumb press the AF mode button and your focal points and level indicators light up red.

When you half press and focal lock they turn black, flash red, camera beeps, green hexagon lights up then return to a more solid BLACK ready for you to check composition/recompose awaiting shutter release - PERFECT IMO.

What more could you want?

No you don't have to!

Play

Scroll rear wheel anticlockwise left
Aha! When you scroll counterclockwise TWICE the one single folder with all the pictures comes up and there everything can be deleted at once. It looks like quite a lot of people are not aware of this function.
On day 2, you will get a second folder, day 3 a third folder, etc! ;)

You can also set the default "quick zoom" level. For example, you can set it so that it goes right to 100% so you can check for focus.
Thank you so much ozdean you really made my day and you are Awesome! :-)
Delete the whole folder - easy!

Blue icons signifies what happens in the play mode

Lots of shortcuts in Pentax land!

AF points are black so they don't distract from composition

They light up red when;

You press the AF mode button

change or select

and When focus locks

You don't want red distractions when trying to compose!
when you press the AF mode button on the side of the camera (with your left thumb) all the AF points light up red.

There is no way to make the red brighter though.

Congrats on the new camera, I'm glad you got it with the Pentax 24-70/2.8, the K-1 deserves a modern lens!

Awesome tip. Thanks. it will take me some time to run through the entire manual and understand it all so this helps. :-)

I must agree with this. That new 50mm 1.4 design that is coming out looks gorgeous, very sexy and very well made. Hopefully it will be fast on the K1.

Is this not the battery for the K1? On the description it doesn't say it is for the K1:

I also like this one but it also doesn't show the description for the K1. Amazon doesn't carry batteries for the K1??:

I do want to say one thing, the wasabi batteries I have used for my Fuji gear swell after a while, and I personally do NOT like that. Obviously that's because I shoot hundreds of photos for work. I don't think I want to use that kind of product for my fancy K1 and get it ruined.

Do you guys use third party batteries and which ones, and how good are they?

Pentax used the same battery for the K-7, K-5, K-3, 645z, and K-1 (among others). Since the linked batteries work for them, they will also work for the K-1. It's more that Amazon and the sellers haven't updated the battery's info.

I prefer OEM batteries, but due to pricing have both OEM and third party batteries for my different systems. I haven't used my third party batteries enough to get a strong feel for them, though. I've heard good and bad stuff about most third party batteries, including wasabi. I haven't had any bad issues with my batteries yet, but at least for my m43 system, I've my OEM battery lasts longer than my third party batteries. The K-1 batteries last a lot longer and usually last the day, and so I've probably bought too many.

Oh that's fantastic. The K1 battery is much much bigger than the little Fuji wasabi ones so I'm imagining that they won't swell that soon.

Thank you for the info.

I have a number of spare DSLR batteries/chargers from:

http://www.betterbatt.com.au/

all excellent and based in Australia, must someone like that be in US

I have a 3rd party battery that I got as part of a bundle, probably with my K-01. I've noticed that it doesn't last as long as my Pentax branded batteries. Otherwise, no problems.

P.S. congratulations on the new purchase! I'm jealous.

I thought I had read that the battery life with the K1 was pretty poor. That's weird because the other day I shot over 800 photos and the battery still had 3/4 of juice left. That's probably because I shoot in AF-S and the LCD is set to off.

And I have a stupid question, by any chance does the external battery grip help in AF performance in any way? I'm going to suspect you guy's answer will be no, but I just want to ask anyway, just in case :-)

Indeed, it is pretty poor - I've got at most 1500 frames from a single charge ;-)

It depends on your style of shooting. Shooting burst, and not chimping much you can easily surpass the rated 760 frames. In other conditions, you can get less. So the battery life is not great compared to other DSLRs, but it's not an issue either.

As you guessed, the answer is no.

Alex

I use 2800mah batteries on my K-1 & K-3 and the battery life is much longer than the official ones. I never had any real issues with them for now, that said they are slower to charge.

Read the manual!
Really, I can understand that you don't want to answer his question, but what does your answer really add...? The OP clearly is adjusted to another brand, and I can understand that everything works just a little different, so he asks questions. What is wrong with that...?
