I need to buy an 80d and wanted to know if I should wait for Canon refurb black Friday deals.?

Thoughts? Past experience?

Thanks

Yes, there will be some deals. This close to Thanksgiving and Christmas, it's worth waiting to see.

I bought the 80D for $750. That is kind of the low end of the price range. I think you will definitely see it for $850 during the holiday buying season - I wouldn't be surprised to see it for $750 again though.

Body only is 799 refurb right now, which they don't have very often. I bought the 18-55 kit a few weeks ago for 849. Very pleased!

Deals last year were pretty great, there were camera + printer bundles.. the 80D body only was going for $849 (after rebate) with a printer n paper included..

I sold the paper n printer for $100 (some people were selling them for $150+) so the net cost of my then NEW 80D was $749...

The printer rebate is already going on, but now it's up to canon to lower its MAP, usually late November-Jan, to make them really great deals.

While I don't remember the price I paid, I remember happily purchasing an 80D kit the Saturday before last Thanksgiving. This year I'll be using it. :-)

A few years ago I got a 70D with 18-135 as a refurb. I really didn't need one but the price was so amazing I bit anyway. And it has been a very nice camera. At that time, if I remember correctly, the 70D had been out about two years. So it was a pretty recent camera.

When I got mine, it was a few days before Thanksgiving. I was checking twice a day or so because the deals kind of trickle out. And the really good deals like I got sell out really fast.

This year I will be on the lookout for a cheap 6D. Maybe one will show up, maybe not. But it is fun looking anyway.

Canon Refurb store:

80D Body only - $680 + tax with coupon code

80D EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Kit -$980 + tax with coupon code.

This might beat anything you'll see after Thanksgiving.

Yeah, that's a great deal, sadly I won't have the money for a couple weeks. I wish that 18-135 wasn't a 300 upgrade, but still good deal too!

The 15% off deal right now is making for some great prices on refurbs - I picked up a 5D MKIV for $2400.

Well, my status is a little uncertain. I bought it on Tuesday for delivery today (not here yet). I saw the discount code yesterday (Thursday). I called Canon and asked if I could get the discount code applied to this order, and what I was told that it could be applied, but not while the camera was in transit. They said to call back today, once I had the camera, and it should be OK.

When I first saw the notice about the discount, right before I called, the 5D MKIV was NOT excluded - in fact, it didn't specifically include/exclude any of the refurbished bodies. But when I checked yesterday evening, like you I saw that they specifically said that certain bodies were included and said nothing about the 5D MKIV. So, I'll find out later today ...

I'm still awaiting shipment of the refurb lens I ordered over a month ago. :-(

I paid for the 2nd day shipment on early Tuesday morning - making sure that the item was in stock. It did not say "shipping" until Thursday morning, and checking the tracking number showed that it actually shipped on Wednesday and should arrive today (Friday).

I recommend calling Canon Customer Service (1-800-385-2155).

I have, Jeff. Canon said they ran out of that lens and will ship when they get more. While I'm not planning on using it until December, I would like some practice time. So hopefully not too much longer a wait.

That's about the right price for the 5D4 now considering the D850 and a7RIII.
