Just came back from China and uploaded 2/3 of my 500+ pictures to Ofoto and 1/3 to Shutterfly. Sorry that I sent anything to Ofoto - they really screwed up!
1) They printed the pictures totally out of order.
2) All of my prints were in duplicate - they did not even match the pairs
of prints or print them in the same order.
3) They do not print the title, description, photo date or anything on
the back of the pix like Shutterfly and yet they charge the same
price.
4) Pictures that were cropped were sometimes printed with both
horizontal and vertical white edges.
5) Paid for FedEx Next Day Air - it took them 72+ hours to ship and
7 days to receive - so they refunded my shipping, big deal! I
wanted my pictures fast - they used the slow boat.

I am not 100% satisfied with Shutterfly either. My prints from them seemed to fingerprint too easily, but they beat out Ofoto by far. Can you imagine having to sort, pair and reorder 300 pictures!!!

In summary, STAY AWAY FROM OFOTO!

You should start researching Canon's BJC-8200 or Epson's 870 (preferably the newer model if you go with Epson, but I don't know what it's called). These printers were actually rated better than what labs could do in the reviews I've seen and personal experience with the 8200.

I'm not sure she really wants, or has the time to print out 500 photos.

Doug:

6 pictures that were cropped using OFOTO's tool were printed on 4x6 paper with white borders on horisontal and vertical borders. As you may be aware, there is an option to stop OFOTO from sizing and cropping to fit the 4x6 size. These pictures were in the proper aspect and this option was not selected, therefore, they could (and in my opion, should) have fit the picture to the size. I learned this the hard way on a previous order, when I chose not to allow them to crop and all of my picture came back with some sort of white space. I was very careful in placing this order.

Marlene,
Could you explain about this error? I not sure I understand what
you mean here. Thanks.

I have had some problems with Ofoto of a similar nature. However they have always credited me if I have complained. For best results with ofoto you should crop/resample your images to the correct resolution for the print size. They print at 250dpi. So a 4x6 should be 1000x1500 pixels and a 5x7 should be 1250x1750 pixels. Ofoto's resampling is trully awful.

Marlene, your 3030 should of come with Photoshop LE. I suggest you do your cropping and resizing in photoshop instead of using web based tools.

You might want to try modifying levels and saturation. Sharpening is also worth doing.

Nah, she doesn't want an inkjet - she'd still have to sort her own pictures!

Never have a problem with Ofoto. I cropped/resampled my images before uploading and they came out excellent and received them after a week and
best of all they were free - 130 prints. I only paid the shipping for $1.49.

I ordered it in 3 separate occasions. I also like shutterfly cause of the borders also 50 prints free! My camera is Oly 2020z and most of the shots were portraits - Tisya

Andrew:

Thanks for sharing your problems with Ofoto. I don't want the credits, I would like them to just do it right. I use PhotoShop 5.5 and love it. I do all of my color work and major cropping with it. I have used the sharpening tools and others and I have become quite good at touch up. This was my first time with a major project using an online lab. Who do you use and like?

Yep, OFOTO needs work on their cropping procedure and their colors. My pics came out all dark and I wasn't too pleased with their cropping either on horizontal shots where top of heads were cut off (i like to have complete heads, thank you). Also, I ordered 50 prints with many doubles, tripples, & quadrouples and they were all spaced out and I had to sort the pics in order. Also took 7 whole days and I'm in Southern California and they're in Northern California.

As for SHUTTERFLY, their cropping was better and tended to cut off heads less often on the horizontal shots. Colors were nice too, didn't seem dark like Ofoto. I make money off of my photography so when I made a reprint order for 134 prints, I used Shutterfly. Shutterfly only took 3 days to arrive from Northern California.

I'm currently selecting which pics to print from PHOTOACCESS so I'll report my results in a few weeks.
