Anyone carry three L zooms in one bag?

I carry my 16-35L, 24-70L, 70-200L and 50/1.4, 550ex flash and my D60 in the standard Domke shoulder bag with the two-pocket insert all the time.

The four-pocket insert it came with made the camera not fit with the 24-70 on it.

Usually, I have the 24-70 on the camera, the 70-200 in a pocket insert, the 16-35 in the other pocket insert, and I toss the 50 ontop of the 16-35 because it's short relatively speaking. The 550ex goes in the side pocket and voilá.

I currently have the 28-80L and 80-200L zooms. I am deciding
between the 17-40L zoom and the 20mm 2.8 prime (by the way, here is
a comparison if anyone is interested:
http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=0055CB ).

If carrying the 17-40L with my existing lenses is ridiculous, than
the 20mm prime becomes more attractive an option.

Does anyone carry around three zooms of this size in one bag? I
was thinking of getting a Lowepro backpack and don't know how easy
or burdensome this would be.

Thanks,

Peter

I have the Tamrac Pro 13 and man is it a big, heavy bag! Mine is stuffed with D60 with BigEd, EOS 3 with PB-E2, 28-70L, 70-200L IS, 50 f1.4, 100 macro, 135 SF, 550EX, film, reflectors, light meter, remote cable, wireless remote and transmitter, and various other stuff.

HEAVY!!

Here is a pic a friend of mine shot of me carrying my bag while shooting IR with my Sony 707, and my D60 was hanging around my neck.

I do, 24-70L, 70-200L 2.8 IS, 100-400L with 2 x 10D+Big Ed. Oh, and
also a 550EX and TC's. It is worth at least 4 hours in the gymn for
every 1 hour carried. All fits into a Tamrac Super Pro 14.

Not recommended unless you absolutely have to or masochism is on
your hobby list.

I use a couple of different "bags" but the one I use the most around town is the Zoom 16 with the some M.A.S. lens holders. Typically I'll carry the 20-35 L, either the 100-300 L or 80-200 L, and either the 28-135 IS (80% of the time) or the 28-70 L. It just depends. I can carry this load either slung over my should or on the belt pack. For light hiking (with out the back pack) I'll use the 28-135 IS (sorry 28-70 L, you're staying home), 100-300 L, and the 20-35 L. Not much weight with these and the optics are very good.

16-35,28-70, 70-200IS, 100-400, 50 f/1.4 = 4.5L?
KP
FWIW, I have also carried this setup in my Domke J-1

two 1D bodies
24/1.4
35/1.4
50/1.4 (1/2 an L -- LOL)
85/1.2
135/2
1.4x TC
I have a Lowepro Mini Trekker. I don't make it a habit to carry
all this, but I have carried the 16-35, 28-135, 70-200, and 100-400
at the same time. I was still able to squeeze in 2 bodies.

I carried a 17-35L, 28-80L, 80-200L, 100mm macro, D30 w/ BG-ED3, 1.4x TC, 420EX, charger, filters, flash cards, etc. in a bag the size of a Lowepro Magnum AW. Now I carry all that gear, plus a 2x TC, in a Lowepro Orion AW beltpack. I don't currently use the detachable backpack part of the Orion AW.

I tried a Lowepro Mini-Trekker. Backpacks are great if you have to carry your gear a long way before using it. But, if you need to work out of a bag, I found a large beltpack with a shoulder strap like the Orion AW to be much more practical.

10D + three nice black L lenses.

Just came home after shooting a wedding for the whole day. Exhausted.

I bought along with me a 70-200LIS, 24-70L, 17-40L and a 85/1.8 together with my 10D. Also took a EOS-1 (film body) and a 550EX.

Everything inside a Lowepro mini-trekker.

Comfortable when adjusted properly, but a hassle to access (Take off, put on ground, etc)

What backpack users need is a lightweight folding stand that works like those fold-up-and-bag chairs.. It could taks up less space than a small tripod, and hold the pack off the ground, supporting the cover as well.

Hi David,

Since I don't have 1.4xTC yet, can you advise me whether it can be used for all prime lens? Thanks!

17-40L
28-135
70-200/F4L
550EX
Minolta Dimage 7i

all in a Velocity 9

no problems... and it's a messenger bag, so I don't have to put it down to get stuff out of it or put stuff away...

Where do you keep the hoods on those lenses? The big problem with a lens like the 16-35/2.8 is that the hood takes up a huge amount of space relative to the lens. Quite wasteful, really (though I pack mine that way) . . . but it doesn't appear that you have the hoods on most of those lenses.

I ran across the Crumpler camera bags, which look great and well-made, and B&H has great prices on them.

Anyone use them, and if so, which model and what do you think?

Thanks,

Peter M

Not sure when they're going to be available in your area, but they're in shops in Australia just this week. Try crumpler.com.au for general info, too.Cheers, Ben.
