I would love to give this camera a 5, The lens, manual controls, image quality, features all bring out the joy of using a well built, semi-compact camera.
However, the dust issue severely limits its score. My 1st one started showing noticeable dust within 6 months, setting the aperture to f2.8 or below helped limit the spots on images - but after a few more months more dust gathered and it was unusable. I sent it in for a warranty repair and was sent a refurbished camera. Knowing the issue with dust I was extra careful the 2nd time around - but after a year - dust started to show up on images from this one too. I found and performed a hack fix by cutting the end off a water bottle, sticking that over the lens and then putting it to a vacuum. Yes, it sounds extreme but I was desperate and it seemed to work for all but the most stubborn dust. Now I just have to vacuum it from time to time and keep set the aperture to f2.8. Will see how long I can limp along hoping the a dust resistant version is in the works.
The other drawback I've noticed is focusing issues with glossy surfaces. I love to do automotive photography - but I have to be extra watchful when photographing in bright sun and bright artificial lights. The camera is challenged even when you set the focus point and you need to be extra watchful to make sure you get usable images - you can't always tell from the screen unless you zoom in to inspect.
Please make sure the Lx200 is sealed against dust - or make version with a fixed lens that is sealed.
