Is X-E3=X-T20+Bluetooth?

Been on the cusp to buy the X-T20 for a few weeks now, but a couple things have been holding me back: IBIS, and most importantly Bluetooth.

I like the layout and tilt screen, but want to connect to my phone using Bluetooth, rather than wifi. I know the new X-E3 does this, but it doesn't have the tilt screen, right?

Are those the main differences? They're the same sensor and processor, right?

Kinda frustrating that the X-T20 doesn't have Bluetooth, and the X-E3 doesn't have a tilt screen (so both are lacking a feature important to me). Once again, I'm waiting for the next camera... <sigh>

Anyone know if the "X-T2s" will have Bluetooth? Is that what I'm waiting for?

Thanks!

Pretty much apart from the shape, improved touchscreen and the new improved AF.

See this:

Nobody knows but my bet is that all X-T and X-E cameras will have bluetooth from now on.

Thank you Exit10 -- that link was very helpful.

i will probably wait for the X-T2 and X-T20 updates and then decide. Funny how that article said the same thing as me basically ("we'll add this but take away this...").

I still have a very longshot hope that the chipset that the X-T20 used for WiFi also has bluetooth capability and that kaizen fairy enables it for me. Has anyone seen a teardown of the X-T20 online where the chips are identified?

Edit: Just to show that it is actually possible, take a look at the Wilink 8 http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/wireless-connectivity/wi-fi/overview.page

I hear ya

Bluetooth is not a must for me for before this, most cameras don't have Bluetooth

However, the lack of flip LCD is what holds me back from getting the XE3 today

If it had, I 'd have replaced my XT20 with it in a flash

As it is, I may wait a while for prices to settle down (or for a second hand body)

I'm also looking forward to IBIS from Fuji in the next gen of bodies to make their tech 'complete' and competitive

(Still don't understand Fuji logic on withholding the sorely needed flip screen from the XE line, X70 and XA have it , no? !@#$%^&*()_+!) -> mild rant from me :-)

Does the X-T20 use the TI Wilink8 chip?
Most likely not. It was just an example to show that wifi chips often have integrated bluetooth.

Does anyone do camera teardowns?

They should - it would be educational

Probably not worth the investment for anyone. Small market and high price of the hardware.

Like many Japanese electronics companies, they have too many models. This results in very small differences between them, and strange differentiators/omissions that make little sense by themselves, but are there to not kill other current models. Frustrating.

If Bluetooth works well with the app you can have the best "tilt screen" ever using the phone. Hey, you may be able to take pictures with the camera hanging in your back!,

Could be handy for those who do street photography.

You can use it now with Wireless with the X-Ts , but uses lot of battery and is not very straightforward.

Another important difference is the location of the EVF. I'm left-eye dominant and the rangefinder style just doesn't work for me. You should read reviews from other "lefties" to see how the actual ergonomics of the camera work. I've read a few that have to turn off the touchscreen because their noses change the AF point, etc.

If you're coming from dslr's then you may want to try one out in a store to see if the rangefinder style works for you. For me, I"ll stick with bodies that have the EVF in the middle.

If you look at all of the new 24mp models, except for the X-A3, they all share the same sensor, same processor, same battery, and under the hood, probably at least 90% of the hardware and software.

The X-T20 and X-E3 go further by sharing the same EVF and auto scene technology. Beyond on that, you have one with a rangefinder style body, bluetooth, a joystick instead of the D-Pad, a mored advanced touchscreen with virtual Fn buttons, and faster AF. With the other you get a tilting touchscreen in an SLR style body and a traditional D-Pad. The bluetooth requires supporting hardware and the joystick and tilting LCD are hardware. But the new AF algorithms and virtual Fn buttons are software that could be added to any of the other models and after X-E3 sales have peaked, some or all of it probably will show up in firmware upgrades.

Thanks for this tip. Just tried it out and yes, it is better than tilt screen. I hang my camera on my neck, turned on wifi connect (using a function key 1), go to my iPhone setting and choose my camera wifi, wait for a few seconds for them to connect. Now I go to turn on the Fuji app and choose remote control, and eureka, It works as if my iPhone is the actual camera, no lag at all. I can change iso, aperture, Ss etc and touch screen focus. . The camera LCD screen goes black with a blinking led light. This is great. Stealth street photos will not be noticed by the subjects since camera is hanging on my neck, and I am looking on my cell phone. Much better than tilt screen. I am now happy about no tilt screen. Why did Fuji not advertise this method?

Why is Bluetooth so important to you?

The T20 is a great camera.

I agree, it ticks a lot of my boxes.

I want Bluetooth for the easy, instant (real time) backup and access to my images on the go. On our last trip, I left my camera at home and just used my phone (Galaxy S8, which has a decent camera). The convenience and ability to backup and share on the go was great, but of course it's not an ideal camera. A camera-to-phone Bluetooth link would be ideal (less power consumption, less clunky, less fiddling/changing network settings than wifi link). It also would provide that "second card slot" and remote control.

Because it would have taken a gigantic chomp out of X-T20 sales and probably hit the X-T2 and Xpro 2 quite badly as well.

I know it would have been my first pick Fuji body.

fuji APP can also do geotagging. (require BT pairing and camera and iphone connections)

is this live geotagging? continuous updates?

Exactly my question as well. I thought the Fuji App geotagging wasn't actually live updated tagging. If it's not live, continously updated GPS coordinates it's useless for me.
