Have been wanting one for some time for travels, to remove weight from batteries.

Hoping for some small-ish, but can only find the large Godox/Neewer.

I see Meike finally realeased their MK420, but for Fuji :/ I think that would be my ideal travel flash.

Nissin i40. Not with Li batteries but small enough to be carried in a jackey pocket. Has much of the same functionality of the well known pro flashes from Canikon but a lot smaller.

Yeah familiar with it, but AA batteries.

Been reading a number of bad things about using the aa lithium batteries in flashes...

I've been using the MEIKE MK-320 for the past 2 years with Sanyo Eneloop AAs - no problems at all on the A7S2

As with all batteries there are huge differences among types in performance and quality. The technology is evolving fast. The types I linked are rechargeable and relatively new. I have not personally tested them yet, but there is no rule that would say that there is anything with Li that makes them inherently unsuitable.

As to non rechargeable Li batteries, there is a lot of information. For very heavy flash use (lots of flashes in a row) they are not practical, as they tend to get hotter than NiCd cells and the Li-cells that have protective circuitry built in, will then slow down your recycle time after a number of shots. For my uses with infrequent flashing they are nevertheless usable, will last a lot longer, store well and are very light.

I've been just researching this too to no avail. Having had great success with Godox Li-on V860ii's on my former Nikon cameras, I decided to just bite the bullet and get the same, along with the transmitter, for the a7Rii.
