Judging by promotional videos, males aren't allowed to buy the Canon M100. :-)

On YouTube, I watched three M100 promotional videos, one posted by Canon, and two posted by camera retailers, and there wasn't a single male in any of them.

One example:

Where is the outrage. :-)

This is nothing new, M10 and M100 are marketed towards women which consider them cute

I thought exactly the same after all the controversy Nikon's D850 male-only ad caused.

I own the M10 (and the 6D). Unless you're doing action photography, the M10 is a fine piece of equipment, regardless of gender (and the 15-45 lens is sharpest at the wide end where I want it). So, I'm highly outraged that it's not marketed to men!

And I don't know about "cute", but it is both very light and doesn't call attention to itself (unlike, for example, the 6D with a zoom lens attached). If you're a man of retirement age those can be increasingly important considerations :-)

Every time I begin using the M10, something strange happens to me that I just can't comprehend or explain - for example:

1. When I first turn on the M10, I immediately start getting hot flashes, followed by a strong desire to hold on to a coffee cup with both hands firmly grasping the cup, and...

2. I then become really moody - can't, for the life of me, figure this out, and...

3. My voice tends to rise an octave or so - much to my amazement and then I turn on the TV and begin wanting to look at either the Hallmark Channel or the Opray Winfrey network - sigh...

And you know, I was warned about this - actually more by subtle references shown in various product movies. After all, politics have become so identity oriented, why not do it with gear in general, right?

The original EOSM was marketed in Japan (and only Japan, where it was made) as a "woman's camera". It was featured in commercials where it was withdrawn from handbags and held in the dainty hands of female models.

Sure, males are allowed to buy the M100. This is just a targeted ad, that's all.

This is marketing, no problems with it.

It is a bit more problematic when this happens...

My 5D IS a MK1 classic

There is no argument for FF vs APS-c (or m43) with shallow DOF..as it's a law of physics and a very subjective personal thing if you want to make use of the shallow DOF only FF can offer

You are joking ....i have a sony nex ...i think the designers was an anti photographer sadist ...the only way to make it more less enjoyable to use would be to superglue a drawing pin to the shutter button...pin up

Only 10.6% of Nikon employees are female. It's no wonder they have failed to create a mirrorless camera that sells well. :-)

That reminds me of this 2017 article:

"Asian women get their closeup in new push for Japanese cameras"

"Emerging Asia's female consumers are particularly enamored with mirrorless cameras..."

I'm pretty sure that you could buy the white SL1 with a handbag Seriously. I'm sure I've seen ad's for that on the Web somewhere. That's one thing that Canon do very well at. Understanding the importance of advertising. It's a market pretty much ignored by most of the makers, for reasons I can't understand. Even the automotive industry has caught on years ago

...in particular, the photo of the 3 Asian ladies, I'd be more inclined to ditch the camera and just want to "mingle" wid da ladies!!!! ;-)
