D850 ******* Picture Thread******** (For those of us without)

It seems there's a few people out there who have bodies and the majority of people are still without who would really like to see some pics from the camera so feel free to upload whatever you like this way folks have an easy way find samples without having to search endlessly thru threads,

If you'd like to label them in the title to make things easier great , e.g. full res, high iso, my cat :-) .....

Thank you...

I went out this morning with a box of crackers to shoot some gulls but they weren't in the mood , same happened at a second spot . :-( In the past it always turned into a frenzy but today, nothing. Maybe cause it was Sunday.

What's the purpose of a 1 mp image from a 46 mp camera?
You made my point. Please post that for all the photos being posted that small.

4 Day Old Moon (Sept 24, 2017)
4 Day Old Moon (Sept 24, 2017)

Full resolution (abt 1700 px across) crop of a single shot of the Moon tonight. Shot w/ D850 and a 600 mm focal length doublet telescope at f/7.5. Worked with the JPEG image - did some contrast enhancement, a lot of clarity in LR. This baby is sharp!

I used the "silent mode", which is electronic shutter open and close, to reduce vibrations. It works like a gem. (Have to be in Live mode.)

Portrait of a Bubble Bee
Portrait of a Bubble Bee

Full resoultion, 2 MP image from the center of the 45 MP image. This was taken with a portrait lens - the wonderful Nikkor 85 mm f/1.4 - not a close up lens. Processed raw image using Adobe ACR. I was about 3 1/2 feet away at the minimum focus distance. Note the fine details in the furry back of the bee. One may have to use care doing portraits with this combination. The subjects picture could be used for medical diagnoses!

Very cool photo!

Out of curiosity (I don't shoot planes so I don't now)... why shoot at f/5? Doesn't seem necessary for the DOF, and the lens is surely sharp & contrasty enough at 2.8 already, right?

Because the Thunderbirds fly in groups of 6 and then break off into groups of 4 and 2 etc.

Shooting at f/5 helps me keep them all in focus when they come by in a group. At least that's my plan and you can never predict what they are doing as they basically come out of nowhere.

Here is another.

Photography is my hobby.

24-70 mm 2.8 (non VR), shot at 45 mm, 30 sec exposure, f4.5, ISO 64. Camera on self timer, tripod.

Haven't had a chance to really put the D850 through its paces. But this weekend while driving back home, I hit a ton of traffic right before the bridge. Luckily, I had my camera and tripod in the car with me. So....I decided to just pull over and kill some time.

Converted pic to DNG, did basic editing on LR.

I took 3 pics. This was the sharpest of the bunch (the others were motion blurred due to wind). Converted pic to DNG, with basic editing on LR, exported as JPEG.

Needless to say, no complaints here. I'm about to go on a 2 week trip through Indonesia with this bad boy. I can't wait!

Just doing so basic dynamic range testing(this is only 1 exposure, no blending), this shot was taken 3 stops underexposed. No need to chirp the obvious flaws/distortion, I only had my 20mm with me and obviously its not ideal for this composition... Only LR post, no PS.

Lens: 20mm 1.8

iso 64
