Anna In The Dunes

I want to reply to some of the comments, but I'm in an area with very iffy internet. I do it when I get back home 🙂

Nice shot.

Lovely complimentary tones happening in the background.

I would lighten up the subject a small amount with curves.

I can imagine this in a good holiday magazine/travel brochure.
Thank you. I do agree that the subject could have used a little lightening up.

As far as the travel magazine/brochure look, my wife--the subject--said the same thing :)

I completely understand that you are playing around with tinting and artistic license. I am just curious what the original photo looked like. Or at least with just curves, and no tinting.
This is the raw SOOC image. Looking at this, the shirt color is not really accurate. It's more the color of the tinted image and less like this one. It may have something to do with the 3 stop ND filter?

I'm OK with the green sky, but I think the green shirt makes the subject too samey-samey with the background, so I would play with colors and luminance to pop Anna out a little more. Did you blur the background, or is that the original DoF? (A little of the green sky shows on the sand in the lower left corner; a touch on the layer mask should fix that.)

EDIT: On second thought ... I think this would be a lot more effective without the green sky. I would put all the colors on Anna.

Thanks, Sabrina. Sorry for the late response; I've been traveling. As far as the DOF, that's straight out of the camera. Regarding toning down the colors with the exception of the subject, it is a great affect.
