I looked into the D7500 but didn't like it doesn't have Dual memory card slots. Just need to find a small waterproof bag now! Got sick of caring around my D810 with my 24-70 70-200 and 24mm 1.4/f

Look on the bright side. The D7500 is a beast of a camera.

I had the D7100 since launch and still have it as a second body but I only ever rarely used a second card as back up. It was mostly just there for overflow.

Give the D7500 a shot, the overall handling and speed is so much better than my D7100 at least. Although I love the camera to bits, sometimes it's chunkiness after using the D7500 for awhile it's quite disconcerting how FAT the D7100 (and identically bodied D7200) felt.

No wife or girlfriend to get mad about my purchases laughing. And I've always had the philosophy to live under my means. Older car 10 years now and cheap rent because as a single guy I have no time to work or fix a house up. I make a list every time my friends have to fix something on a house it's at least 4,000.00 minim. Ever time I get a raise I actually try to spend less money on stuff and put a little extra away in retirement and spend a few % more on travel.

many spur of the moment purchases.
But I have to say, this is the happiest story I've seen on the forum in a long time :)

Unless he's getting into financial/family troubles for it...

You're obviously planning and managing your finances well based on your points below. So, congrats.

On the point above, you may be missing something in life besides photography ;)

Which version of the 18-300 did you order? I have the newer 3.4-6.3 and love it. But I have never tried the older version, so have no input on it. But I believe a lot of folks are missing out on a really neat lens that does much better than they believe it would by not checking out the 18-300. I find it equal at worse and overall slightly better than any of the 18-xx Nikon zooms available with by far the most useful range of focal lengths.
