More Ospreys ! D500 + 300mm F2.8 VR

Great shots. How close were you? were these shot handheld?

I have the 300mm f2.8 the AF-S version. I have not use it for a while.

I use the 500 f4 mostly. Have you tried this lens with the 2X TC ver III?

It seems to do a good job.

Photos were taken along the Seaway canal, at Iroquois, Ontario.

a good place to go at that canal..........authorities have the nest platform built, so that we shoot from a rise, above the waterway......with the nest at eye level

Most other platforms have you shooting up into the sky.Biggest challenge, is getting latest news about the best time to go.

I would say that the distance to the nest was about 125 feet.For most of my other birds, I shoot with the 2X (III) attached.....results are wonderful, especially if birds are not too far away.

For the Ospreys, I was always on my Gitzo, and followed flight with my Jobu Junior gimbal mount....no problem.
