Samsung already makes the best smartphone cameras out there barring none. And regardless of ranking by experts, users always seem to agree that Samsug is the Gold Standard for Smartphone Photography.

The Note 8 will now come with 3x optical zoom, even more dynamic range and a possibility of higher pixel photos from the same sensor paid. While iPhone tried it's hand at the Dual Camera setup, its implementation was doubtful with bad low light and just about 2x Zoom. Samsung, as always, seems to be leading the pack in Smartphone Camera technology with it's new Dual Camera Module.

P.S.:Check out thehonestnew for the last updates on tech.

I am still happy with my trusted and faithful Note 5 since 2015 but I am ready to upgrade to Note 8, unfortunately the placement of the FP Sensor next to the camera lens will definitely put me off, that will definitely give my Note 5 more longevity.

Ask not what your camera can do for you, but what you can do with your camera.

Do you work for Samsung? LOL. I do really like my Note 4. With a rumored price of $850, there's no way I'll be upgrading anytime soon. I'll wait at least a year and see what prices are then, or look for a refurb.

Here in Australia, looks like the Note 8 will be around $1.5K, this is madness, there is no way I would want to justify that, my Note 5 not 2 years old yet is still smiling at me.

Facts:

* Note 7 had an interesting feature set at launch, but ended up being a horrible disaster....Those who loved the phone were still forced to return and downgrade to the kludgy edge 7. The alternative was to be arrested during the next plane ride.

* A good number of Edge 7 users are absolutely frustrated beyond creation that samsung _forces_ updates with the most annoying nagging system I've ever seen.....watch a movie on your edge, samsung will popup software update notice during the show and if your fingers are anywhere near the wrong place - samsung will not immediately commence upgrade, shutting off the phone w/o any way to cancel or any attempt to confirm that update is wanted. What's worse, is that the upgrade from android 6 to 7 was handled in the same way, no way for users to stay on android 6...and the android 7 UI is just a painful mess.....with a greater difference in the sizes of fonts (especially for notifications) such that some older users ended up paying $600+ for a phone they can now no longer use. Screw Samsung.

* What's so good about Samsung's latest products? Bixby? We all want Alexa. Samsung Pay....it's still buggy. Half of the features of the Samsung phones are just Samsung rebranding and reimplementing apps and features Google already has. At least Amazon made a genuine attempt to have their own appstore and real user experience....Samsung devices feel like they are schizo....you never know if you are interacting with google or samsung, or some bug due to interaction between the two.

* We are supposed to be excited about Samsung having a good camera in their smartphone? gah. I'd be more impressed if they had better tools for downloading images and doing simple post processing from real cameras. And, no, I don't want Samsung cloud! I already have Amazon Cloud, Canon Image gateway cloud?, Microsoft Onenote cloud, my home office NAS's private cloud, my work servers internal cloud, etc... I honestly think Samsung is stuck attempting to recreate the mobile industry of 10-15 years ago...What? They think they have enough influence to switch users from google, microsoft, and amazon in significant numbers?

I'm honestly waiting for either a real Surface phone or an Amazon tablet w/ LTE that can answer mobile calls w/o skype. Or, perhaps Skype being able to both receive and send SMS and allow me to transfer my cell # in.

Does the above seem like an opinion to you? It's the facts on the ground here.

Hi

I do not know what you are talking about here.

I have a Samsung phone and tablet.

With my Sony camera I can control the camera through both of them and download the image at the same time. I can select any image on my camera and sent it to my phone or tablet and edit it and post on the internet. I can also send it from my Samsung to my Selphy printer and print a photo.

If you can not do this with a Samsung or any other Android device it is not the devices problem it is the camera manufacture not having the program or app to do this.

Heck, I'm still using my Note 2! I think I'm ready for an upgrade :)
Note 4 on it's last legs, here (which replaced an original Galaxy Note). Looking forward to the Note 8, for sure! :)

Confirmed just 2x optical zoom. Galaxy Note 8 by Samsung equipped with dual paced camera features, namely dual pixel, dual lens (wide and tele), and dual optical image stabilizer (OIS). Remarkably again, two Galaxy Note 8 camera can be used to take photos at once.

Photos captured by the Galaxy Note 8 camera can also be altered the focal point and depth of the photo area. Users can set to focus where, whether the object in the foreground or rear, as well as the level of blur that can be changed.

Seeing Samsung sells a two lens set for the S7 and S7 edge which give you 16mm ultra wide angle and a 52mm 2X optical zoom lens I don't see much of a miracle here.
