I just finished updating my gallery and thought I would post it here (for the first time). I hope you all enjoy it.

These photos were taken with a (now ancient) Canon G2. Most are resized to 33% of original size (although a few were cropped and resized to 40%) followed by the mandatory unsharp mask.

Dilemma: Powerbook or 10D. 10D or Powerbook. back and forth ad infinitum

My favorites are the Flagler Beach pier pics too.

What gallery software produces those negative-style picture frames?

Snap - I too am toying between 10D and powerbook - also i have a G2 but am using PCs and would like to "move to mac" - could you tell me which you decide to go for and why

Thanks for the positive feedback
:)

I am not as high on the flower pics but a woman I am seeing loves flowers. I think you understand, eh? wink

I used interface builder (software that comes with Mac OS X) to make an appropriately sized "metal" OS X window. Then I edited out the red/yellow/green buttons that normally appear on the windows.

I actually was just trying to make it look Mac-like. But I showed it to a friend and he commented that it looked like a slide-show. Feel free to save that image (the metal "slide") and use it on your site.

To make the gallery I used iView with my own custom templates. The site is in its infancy (I am a web-designer during the day :). I plan to divide it into sub-galleries and include info on the camera and other things. But for now it just shows the pictures!

10 bonus points to anyone who knows what Melnibone is (I took the name from my college email ID - Yyrkoon)

I will probably go with the Powerbook because I will likely be starting law school next summer and wouldn't want to attempt it without a laptop.

I moved to the Mac last October and haven't looked back. I don't have time for games, so that's not an issue. The only real surprise was how much I spent on software. I expected to buy Quicken, Office and Photoshop Elements (I had used Paint Shop Pro on the PC) but I ended up buying lots of little Mac programs that are just SO NEAT (Konfabulator, Pixadex, iView, BBEdit, etc...).

Jeff,

I really enjoyed your beach photos. Moody with just the right touch of foreground activity.

I sit on a similar fence, being a current G2'er. My only complaint with the thing is its shaky construction. It never feels absolutely comfortable in my hands. A 10D would no doubt be a more solid unit, but I'm not sure if it really gives one much of an improvement in overall image quality. Would your fine beach shots, for example, be better with a 10D? I personally don't think so. Granted you can switch lenes, crop more and take action & portrait photography with the 10D, but for me I like shooting alone and don't have the cash floating around.

Just my .02. Can't speak on your Mac issues as I'm a PC person. Again, enjoyed your gallery.
