Epson colors turned crazy

I have been printing fine with my Epson 2200 for months and then all of a sudden the colors go crazy. Greens are sometimes blue or very very dark, some extra green tint in items like hair. I haven't changed any settings or made any changes in the programs I use. One day I am printing fine, the next day the colors are strange with the same print image. I have used the print head cleaning utility with no improvement. My settings are correct forpaper type and with no color correction. Any ideas?

Hi Joe,

A couple of years ago, I had the same kind of problem with an Epson 1200 Photo printer.

After messing around with it, I finally noticed that the yellow ink was a greenish hue by obseving the colors in the nozzle check output.

It turned out that the yellow ink was green!

Perhaps one of the carts has defective ink?????

Cheers!

Good advice - I will try changing my cartridges out. Hope this
works! Thanks.
Whoa! Before you swap them all out, first try printing a nozzle check - if the colors are good there, you might have a different problem...and if only one is bad, you'll know which one to change.

The nozzle check came out just fine. I don't think it is the ink cartridges. Also, my printing programs (photoshop and qimage) are crashing often now when trying to print. I did try the printer on another computer with the same output results. I hate to think that the printer is broke after less than a year of use. Any other ideas?

I think that you might have Operative system problems. When you tried on another computer did you check the ICC profiles and colour space? I would suggest you reinstall Windows, if you are using it (uninstall your printer software first and if you have time take the photoshop and qimage too). Then install your printer again and download the latest driver version plus updates. It is a bit of work but it might be worth trying.

PS: I suggest you download the drivers from epson.com and overwrite the ones you have on your software disc just in case.

It seems to me that something is wrong in the printer...it worked fine on both computers before and now it is having the same error on both computers. But you are right - it is certainly worth reinstalling drivers and Windows to rule out those ideas. Thanks.

Joe, Im in the same boat as yours. I have the Epson colour stylus 880.

I take a picture, and try to print it. The preview is exactly what I want, but get a different result when finished.

My brother who is in printing, told me that one of the units are not colaborated.(printer, monitor, camera). Im hoping its not colaboration cuz it will take a long time.

Joe Im guessing its your camera. Like Ive been printing mainly coulor, so I know its not my printer. Probable cause My camera.

It appears that Epson and fuji arent compatible. Hope not.

I figured out the color problem - It had to do with color profiles and the rendering intent. Somehow I had it set at Absolute instead of Perceptual. It took a long time to figure this out - I even changed most of my ink cartridges to rule out problems with them. Oh well, at least I didn't send it in for warranty service!
