Hi, if anybody is in the area, myself and Ines will be at an exhibition at the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery this weekend (which runs until August 22nd). Would be great to meet up ... Here, one of three pictures from myself which is on show (100 x150cm):

SIGMA sd Quattro H / SIGMA 180mm Macro

SIGMA sd Quattro H / SIGMA 180mm Macro

And here the Gallery: http://www.amsterdamwhitneygallery.com/

Cheers, Mark

Cool. Congratulations Mark!

Lovely image. Very impressive gallery! Congratulations. May I ask where do you have your printing done?

Thanks. For this series I used Whitewall. They are not prints but actually true photographs which are then mounted (in this case) behind matte acrylic.

Cheers, Mark

Not a dumb q! It really is not obvious that it's a detail shot of ice lit by the light of a setting sun - not the colours one would normally expect for ice ...

Wow! Really a fine shot IMHO. As a large print, I am sure it could be looked at for a long time - not something you just look at once and then ignore.

I was right to spot the trapped air bubbles, but wrong about what it was, that was trapping them ...

Congrats Mark: Beautiful images and nice recognition to boot ;)

Glad to see you and Ines still hanging together and shooting great images.

Good to see that your pictures find their audience. I always very much like Ines' and your work.

I have one question for you (and feel free not to answer it). Now that you use the sd Quattro, do you have a special workflow to handle the Quattro files? Do you use X3F and SPP? Any recommendation on the settings? What do you do outside SPP?

Gate bois was so kind to share his workflow. It would be helpful to see what others do. For now, I still use SPP only. This was in my opinion the best solution with the Merrill Files. The Quattro files have a different character and I am sometimes not so sure if there is a better way to handle them.

Thanks in advance,

Frank

Hi Frank, thanks and happy to share ;-) on the whole in SPP I just aim to get a good ProPhoto TIFF with no noise reduction, so mainly Exposure and Fill Light (from a slightly over exposed RAW = ETTR) to get the shadows and highlights where they should be plus global contrast and saturation and the appropriate WB settings. The 16bit TIFF I then put through Adobe Camera Raw (which, btw, does a great job with the Foveon green/magenta noise) for fine global adjustments and finally into Photoshop for any local adjustments (sensor spot removal, local colour correction, etc.).

Cheers, Mark
