white balance card- where to get? $ how much

Depending on how you want your pictures to look:

Usually I just bring a white sheet of paper and balance on the strongest light source, or the light source that's avaliable. OR just find something white to balance off of.

If you want a warmer look, you can white balance on your jeans, or something on a light shade of blue, just experiment.

I would spend the money only if you want a grey card, which you can find some if you just search on-line for.

B & H sells grey cards that are white on the reverse side. I forget the price, but not expensive. There are large ones and some that a smaller for carrying around.

0.02p.Just use a sheet of white paper, only get something more expensive if you find it doesn't do the trick for you!

I am looking for the one that has gray black and white on one side and white on the other. I have a larger one but it too large to back around. A 5x7 card would be better for the pack.

Kodak makes a "kit" with various sizes of the cards you are looking for.

I walked into a local camera shop the other day and they didn't even know what a "white card" was. The lady said "don't you mean a gray card?" Some folks don't know about the digital times we live in...

My pictures may only be worth 500 words, but I'm taking a Photographic English Composition course.

Get some in pure white, a few in the warmer colors, and some toward the blue side. Play around with the various colors and see the results
