I emailed them existing my concern, and they confirmed they have replicated the issue with firmware 2.0, and have sent the info to the design architects in Japan to rectify. They don't know the root cause but expect a resolution soon.

Really impressed they took the time to call me.

Thought others would benefit from this information.

What's the issue? I just ordered the Pen-F; should I not update the firmware if it's not at 2.0?

Don't have one, but from what I've read there seems to be a significant bug that is putting cameras to sleep and then requires removing and replacing the battery to get it started again. They will no doubt get it fixed relatively quickly. I generally don't upgrade firmware till it's been out for a few weeks.

I updated to 2.0 this morning before I found out there was a problem with it. I turned the camera on, checked it, let it time out from inaction and then pushed the shutter button and it came back on fine. Turned off, tried again and same result. Works fine.

I don't know if it's only some Pen F's that have this issue?

What did they call u? Hope it wasnt anything insulting.
Haha, no nothing bad.
that you know of

Thank you for posting this. I tried FW v2 and it locked up my camera. I "downgraded" to vers 1.1 using LightSnow Dev web site and everything is fine. I'm gonna wait on updating to 2.01 (or whatever) let someone else be the beta tester.

High there, this 'short test' of you will not prove that your Pen f is OK.

Mine does the same but after a longer time of use it will stop. Sometimes it stops suddenly just after taken a shot. Sometimes when you have your camera set at 'on' and you wait a while, it refuses to wake up again.

I also noticed that the camera can get very warm/hot at the 'thumb' area.

The only solution to get the camera working again is to pull out the battery, put it in again and than the camera starts up. But randomly it will stop again. Very anoying and not usebale.

Greatings, ClickRick

Best not to update to 2.0. Good thing is Olympus acknowledged the issue and recreated it. That is important.

Now we wait. I figure in a month we have an update.
