I cloned out the fence and applied the Dream Effect. I cropped a bit off the bottom too, as it was so dark.

What do you think?????

I just saw your original pic in the other thread and thought it was pretty good. I like this one a lot better... It looks like a magnificent oil painting! I like how its framed with the bird in center - its uplifting. ;)

The dream effect really works on this one doesn't it?

Unfortunately, it seems to have darkened the trees to the point that you've lost a good bit of the detail there... if they can't be "brought back", you might be better off cropping them off, maybe leaving just the left-most tree to frame the right side. The trees were good in the original... I'd work to bring back their details, then "ship it!". :-)

a Background image for your pc. If it were mine, I'd mirror the image so the dark area would be on the left where all my desktop icons are located.

You are too kind!!

I just caught the motion of this bird taking off from the corner of my eye, and snapped the shot! I wasn't sure what to expect ~ it turned out better then I feared!!

Thanks again William!!!

Hello Dave,

Good job. You catch the bird before it get away.
Nice effect.
Thanks for sharing.
P.S. I have so busy lately. I may miss some of your good pitures.
Always enjoy them.

I've been so involved with the mini-challenge, I completly missed your post and question!!!

It's called the Dream Effect, and was quite popular on the forum some time back. It's very easy and simple ~ these instructions were posted by Dalia, here on the Forum, way back when!!

1) Layer=> Duplicate Layer.
2) Brighten the Layer (Image=> Adjust=> Brightness/Contrast).
3) Apply Gaussian Blur (Filter=> Blur=> Gaussian Blur (Radius 25 Pixels)).
4) If you don't see all layers, then go to Window=> Show Layers.
5) On the Layers Window, select Mutliply, & make sure the Opacity is 100%
6) Click on Layer=> Merge Down.

You will find it's not for every shot, but can be a very nice effect!

Give it a try, and share!!!!

Thanks for your kind comments cathy!!!

The Dream Effect was way over-used a while back!! I think people got tired of seeing it! But, as Inigo pointed out to me, there are some shots that work really well with it!

Thanks for looking Ray!!!

Hey Dave, I'm not a big fan of the dreamy effect but this pic makes
me rethink that a little bit. A great shot with a nice effect!
