In light of Samsung dropping this camera, in your opinion, is it still worth purchasing?

NX 1 / 500 Yes

NX 1 / 500 Yes
I was going to leave the NX1 and sell up for another system. But the more i looked at the alternatives (including quality/features/ price) i realised nothing is quite up there with the NX1 yet (which is 2 years old). So i bought another NX1 with 16-50s combo for a bargain, and will stay with them for a few years to come. I basically future proofed any problems by getting a back up!

The NX1 is still the best overall APSC camera rivaling the IQ of many FF cameras, but with better and faster specs. It is one of the few cameras that does it all better than most other cameras.

Olympus, Sony, and Nikon just released their high-end APSC cameras and still none can match what the NX1 can do. It is usually 2-3 before replace those cameras, so the NX1 should be at the top for a while longer.

And because the NX1 is future proof with 4K video, USB 3.0 and other features, there is no worry there. The Sony A6500 only has USB 2.0! :)

So even though the NX1 is now like a fixed lens camera (think RX10 or FZ2000) it should remain one of the better ILC for 2-3 more years and competitive for at least 5. With good care I would expect it to be a very good ILC for 5-10 years.

Depends on your needs. Is the present lens line-up enough. 200mm is longest (with AF).

I'm personally torn between NX1 and Panasonic GX80. I currently have just bought an NX1 but am considering getting the GX80 also and comparing them. I want either one for sports/action so AF tracking and buffer performance are important. I won't be getting any Samsung S lenses by the look of it so it comes down to lens performance of the 50-200mm Samsung zoom compared to Panasonic 30-100mm or 45-150mm zooms.

Panasonic DFD tech sounds like it could give the NX1 a run for its money. I think I could stomach a small hit in IQ and dynamic range for sports/action if the AF of the GX80 can give me more keepers. Of course the NX1 can shoot faster but if the keeper rate is significantly lower then that advantage is quickly lost. It's hard finding any definitive proof either way because some tests online are before NX1 AF firmware update and also tests were mainly done using S lenses so I can expect a poorer outcome with the 50-200mm zoom or the 45mm f1.8.

I have the NX500 and NX300 for more sedentary photography..

Yeah boys

I know the drama... Im feeling it too. Im fairly deep into nx and I feel If that my window to try to sell for 50%-80% of what I have invested is closing rapidly...

I have the 16-50s, 45, 30, 16, Rokonon 12 and the battery grip .

As I seem to more interested in video at the moment I cant find anything to replace my NX for the price...

only cameras Im some what interested in is the A7sII, Canon C 100 and would really like A black magic shooting raw.... and all are major investments and they still dont do everything my NX does...Also Id have to sell everything I have right now and add $500-$1000 just to get one of these bodies

honestly I cant justify them as Im not a paid professional and my skills are not outpacing my hardware... That is to say my NX-1 is not crippling my creative potential I have a long way to go before my skills out class what it can do.

I predict that when GH5 drops the major price dip we all expected on the NX line Months ago will happen... maybe down to $500 - $400 for body only...

But on the plus side If I stay maybe I can get a 50-150S for $500-$600 someday soon...

I feel if I had the 60 macro and the 50-150S Id have the full set good for years to come.

I really see no way out... Its cheaper to keep her... Ive been dating NX so long I may as well put a ring on it...

until I change my mind again

It's a great camera for me, but whether you should buy it, depends on how you get along with it.

Try before you buy.

If you are not a professional stay put!

If you can find a good used 50-200, or even a new one, I see them cheap on ebay, is a surprisingly good lens for the money (and for video), better than any cheap tele zooms I have ever used, and all the 3 copies I have seen were equally good (while I can't say the same for 16-50pz and 18-55).

I do wish for a "cheap-o" 50-150, but not a huge need for it. With the macro adapters, I have skipped the 60 (just 2 macro shots the last year!).

I feel NX is good for my photography hobby for the many years to come, but as I am a video pro, my next big buy will be a very good tripod (Sachtler Ace?), a 4th expensive mic (I already have 416 and a couple of others), and then a dedicated videocamera (C100mkIII?!).

NX has incredible slow motion as well (best under 5000$/€ maybe).

If I can get my hands on an nx10 for $100 should I get it
You know this thread is 5 months old? You could have created a new one asking your question. NX10 for $100, sure why not? Unless you want to spend more and get the NX1?

I bought the Samsung NX1 within a month of release. Recently got a 16-50mm S lens and loving it more. Shot few clips at the Comic Con 2017 and they turned out to be cool.

Honestly, I will buy another NX1 if my current one gives up. Even though Samsung is not producing them anymore.

Got any Comic Con that you can post here? Would love to see them taken with NX1.

you should consider yourself one of the lucky ones. Almost 3 full years of use, while the other crop cameras of that time are seriously behind modern ones. The Fuji flagship was a 16MP one for crying out loud!

I say you got your money's worth back, and then some!

Sorry for the delay in posting. But, here you go. Used Samsung NX1 + 16-50 S lens. Used Gamma DR and Custom profile.

Exactly. My nx1 is kicking since feb 2015. 2.5 years of use. And before that nx300 for 2 years, nx200 (1 year), nx100 (bought in 2011).

I consider myself lucky and still buying up gear for this camera. Keeping eye for a 50-150mm S lens. Had to replace the sensor once under Samsung warranty. Since then no issues.

Never used it for professional reasons or events yet. This covers more of the hobby part along with Canon 70D. The latter, which I use mostly for events and weddings.

Question: What the 70D does better than NX1?!
