Hi all,

I just bought a new 5700 and am enjoying it. I'm used to an N70 SLR, so I'm going to have to learn the 5700's new ways to control the image, but I really like my eperience so far. I've posted a photo below that I took today on its first field test.

Directly below is a section of that photo that appears to show a glitch in the sensor (I cloned it out in the larger photo at the bottom). Am I right and is this abnormal? If so, I'll return it to the store for a replacement. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

The phot below was cropped to eliminate a building on the left, and a streetlamp was cloned out of the front of the Pyramid building. Also sharpened after rescaling.

Looks like you have a hot pixel showing up at a shutter speed faster than 1/30th. I would not accept that in a brand new cam.

Hi Brent,

It's normal that the camera sensors have problems but they are usually mapped out before shipment. The Nikons have a 512 location hot/stuck pixel table that is used to map out the problem pixels and let the software fill in the space with info from adjacent pixels. That said, if you see this in normal daylight photos return it and get a replacement. I just did that with my 5700. It was replaced with no problem and the new ont works fine.

Good Luck,

back without any noticeable HOT pixels. It took about 16days from the time I sent it off til the time I received it back. New cameras shouldn't have any HOT pixels like that. When I sent my 5700 in, it came back and the invoice showed they fixed several things on the camera. It works better now then it did before sending it in..... Good Luck.
