I thought the dust on the window and out of focus flowers made this look like the fly was in space with stars and nebula. I will admit to removing a couple bits of lint from the window in photoshop, but otherwise this is darn near exactly as shot (complete with the smudge in the lower left).

Great shots Dave. Love the fly and the close up of that squirrel.

Top shots Malcolm. I really like the bee in flight shot and he's so laden with pollen, its a wonder he can fly at all.

Here are some fungi I saw yesterday while on a forest walk. All three are quite small, around 10mm, or a bit less than half an inch across. I have no idea of their identification.

Hi Dave,

I like the idea and execution of the "Fly in Space,", very interesting shot.

Very good close up of the Squirrel, well done. Thank you for sharing.

Interesting and nicely captured set Roger, it's a wonder how these delicate fungi manage to push their way up through the earth. But I guess that is the case with many species of plant that manage to get through when we find it difficult to get through with our spades.

A very pretty colour Rhododendron Carl. Nicely captured, I guess you didn't require the monopod, image stabilization would take care of 125th sec.

I do not have a monopod, though could be useful some times. I do have a thin hiking pole threaded on the top but again don't use it. I do however occasionally use a tripod, I have a couple, when I am setting up a close up shot indoors or in the garden.

NOTE: Carl, could you please when posting images in this thread reply to my original post not to somebody else's image post. It helps to keep people's comments to images in order (Right under the posts that they are commenting on) and easier to follow. Thanks.

Nice image Elmo. Interesting detail of the stamens of the flower and how they open up from the central ball. Thank you for sharing.

That's an unusual treatment for a flower. I like it.

Excellent result and I like the sepia look.

Sorry about that, not intentional.

keep on shooting!

Very nice Trafford.

Monochrome doesn't always work well with flowers but in the case ot works very well. There are plenty of interesting lines and textures to make the image pop and the Sepia works very well.

Well done and thank you for sharing.
