Sony Japan issued a new firmware on many E-mount lenses and on the LA-EA3 adapter. The firmware will be available worldwide within a couple of hours for:

70-200mm GM firmware
70-200mm G firmware
24-240mm G firmware
28-70mm G firmware
24-70mm Zeiss firmware
16-35mm Zeiss firmware
50mm f/1.8 firmware
24-70mm GM firmware
50mm Zeiss firmware
85mm GM firmware
LA-EA3 firmware

"Updates related to the continuous shooting function of "α9" "

Any other improvements?
Thank you for posting! ;)

...Unfortunately the link to the SEL16-35mm Zeiss firmware reports «There are no files available to download for this model.» - Maybe it will be available in the next couple of hours... :)

With the exception of providing the «Quick Starting Function», the related text on Sony site doesn't give any further reason(s)/improvements for the updates, at least for what the SEL2470Z is concerned... :(

All the best,
Pedro

No difference to me for the 70-200F4, but the 24-70F2.8 GM seems to AF snappier and more accurate. Especially with AF-C Extended Spot. Cool.

Just updated the Laea3 adapter connected to A7rII to Ver 3.0. using Mac 10.12.5
Everything looks good. Ready for my A9 + adapted lenses!

So far so good. On to the lenses.

Interested with the 50mm f1.8

AF on this lens is so bad that any update that promises AF improvements is welcomed

I just updated to V0.02 for this lens. I thought focus was snappier as well - assumed it might be my imagination. Maybe not. :-)

Now, if Sony will just release camera firmware to allow for focusing with open aperture....

Could be my imagination too but my 24-70 GM AF seems snappier after update as well. It's hard to tell because I never really had any complaints about this lens - love it.

BTW, thanks for posting the links, Tandua 👍.

First and foremost, it's about capturing the moment regardless of how the pixels look at 100%

The 50 f1.8 has FAR less pulsing in AF-C. Seems to be hunting far less in all modes. Good update!

It doesn't solve the slight autofocus noise, but this is good to hear for stills!

I was performing some testing earlier today with the a7rii w/24-70mm F4 Zeiss lens at f11 and there was a little hunting before the focus locked (this didn't bother me much as it's been this was from the start, i've only have the a7rii for 2 weeks). I saw the lens update this afternoon and updated the lens, I performed the same test photo & it attained the focus lock much faster really no hunting. Now, this wasn't scientific test but the focus lock feels faster....

I'm waiting for reports. I have the 55 now due to AF, but liked the 50 and wouldn't mind $400 in the pocket. It says it improves AF stability whatever that means, maybe less of the hunting? Hope to hear from someone.

I find it very interesting that of my four FE lenses, the ones that don't focus stopped down also don't have a firmware update.

These always snap wide open to focus in AF-S:

Sony FE Zeiss 35mm f1.4

Sony FE 90mm Macro f2.8

Sony FE 28mm f2.0

And this one that focuses stopped down in AF-S is on the list above:

Sony FE 70-200mm F4 G

I will try the 70-200 tonight to see if the update changes the focusing behavior when stopped down.

I just updated the 50mm f/1.4 Zeiss succesfully. Now on version 02. So far I didn't have time to test though.
