Hello,

I need help please. I switched from Canon 5D Mark III to Panasonic GH5. In Micro Four Thirds I'm a complete beginner. I bought the Panasonic GH5 with a new lens
Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm f / 2.8-4 Power O.I.S. But for photography and video, I need also an ultra wide-angle lens. I'm filming video in 4K,
So the lens must be sharp.

I choose from these lenses:

1) Olympus M. ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm
2) Panasonic Lumix G Vario 7-14mm f/4,0 ASPH
3) Panasonic LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 8-18 mm f2,8-4,0 ASPH
4) Objektiv Olympus M.ZUIKO ED 7-14mm f/2,8 Pro (which is already very expensive and heavy)

First I wanted Panasonic 7-14. But I waited 2 months for delivery. I was looking for a replacement and the Olympus 9-18 also looks nice and is half the price.
At the same time, the new Panasonic 8-18 will be available.

I think I will do this as follows:
1) First I buy Olympus 9-18 (I need lens by the end of May or early June)
2) Then I buy Panasonic 8-18 and Olympus 9-18 to sell.

Do you think it's reasonable? Or should I buy Panasonic 7-14 (is already in stock) and Olympus 9-18 and Panasonic 8-18 not to buy?

As I wrote, I have a Panasonic Leica 12-60mm f / 2.8-4 lens. Does it make sense to buy a lens with a range of 9-18 (Olympus)? For photography and 4K video. On some videos, video from Panasonic 7-14 is like from the fish eye. But I have a fish eye (Panasonic Lumix G-Fisheye 8mm f / 3.5). Now I need Ultra-Wide Angle lens.

I'm kindly asking for help, I do not know much about Micro Four Thirds yet.

Thank you very much.

I coupled GH5 with Panny 7-14 and it is awesome combo. Optically excellent corner to corner across all focal lengths. Probably my best lens. Two disadvantages though. You can't use filters(without adapting the lens) and it is not weather proof.

Hi

On a GH5 I guess size is your your primary consideration, but the Oly 9-18mm is a really great package. The 7-14mm is a stellar lens, but the convenience of the 9-18mm won me over and I sold the 7-14mm. I do have an A7 with 15mm lens for those occasions I want maximum width though.

I'd get the PL 8-18mm. It will colour match better than all the others to the PL 12-60. This will make post easier when cutting footage from the two lenses - less grading. From what I've seen the Pana-Leicas have a warmer render than the Oly Pro glass.
