Travel kit with A7rII

Since I started the original thread, I can tell you a bit about my experience with the A7rII and various lenses I take with me when I am travelling, since I got them back in August 2015.

70-200/2.8GM is another great lens, but I only take it with me when travelling, if I know I will be able to leave it hotel most of the days and only take it with me when I need the reach. I am considering to get either the new FE 100-400GM or the FE 70-300G for travel.
What is the weight of the FE 100-400?
70-200 is just not well suited for travel. At the short end Batis 85 is better and lighter, and the long end ... is usually just not long enough.

35/1.4Z is amazing for street and environmental portraits and has unique rendering, but it is also large and heavy. I wish there was a more travel friendly FE 35/2 ;)
The 100-400mm weighs 1395g, compared to 854g for the 70-300mm. I own the latter and consider it better suited to travel, but will probably migrate to the new lens when available. I hardly ever fly, so don't mind transporting a little more weight/bulk in my van.

Not bad, Canon 100-400 L II is about 1535 gm and Pentax 150-450 is 1990 gm. I hope it is as good as those two.

If it's as good as the A-mount 70-400G, then I am most certainly getting one at some point. Not right away though - I have 70200GM for my immediate needs and I want to see if there will be something even longer available later this year.

I initially thought about getting 1.4x or 2x TC for my 70200GM, but the reviews available so far are not too encouraging, especially for the 2x and when compared to A-mount 70-400G. Teleconverters have always been and I guess always will be just a compromise and my expectations were not realistic.

that is my kit for travel. pretty nifty. 16-35 + 55. Just got 85 but would not take all three, would swap in and out with the 85 on whim.

My basic kit for aboard:

Sony A7Rii

Sony Zeiss 16-35mm F4 OSS

Sony Zeiss 55mm F1.8

Canon 135mm F2L + Sigma MC-11 + Canon EF 1.4x III (still beat my 70-200mm F2.8 in weight)

Gitzo Traveler 0545T tripod

GoPro Hero4 or Nikon Keymission 360

Nikon Coolpix A (for situations where I don't want to change lens)
