"Macro/Closeup Thread 15th April 2017"☺

Great subject and capture.

Tom

Found in abundance along the shores of the Humber River at Etienne Brulé park in Toronto. Very early spring bloom. Suggestions on identity would be helpful.

Unidentified spring flower.

A nice morning walk Jerry,

They are all very nice excellent images but I especially like the first one, the red and white stripes, beautiful.

Very nice David, I miss Bluebells, we don't see them this side of the pond, at least I never have.

As said the articulating LCD is great for getting down to ground level. I have a Walkstool that can come in very handy for getting low down without overstraining the old bones too much. The combination of Articulating LCD and Walkstool work very well together.

Nice find AAN,

That is one good looking beetle, well spotted, I like the setting also.

Sorry Anton I can't help you with the ID.

Nice image, works very well with the bright yellow flower against the dark green foliage.

Hi Antonlin,

It looks exactly like Ranunculus ficaria. It is commonly know as lesser Celandine(also know as pilewort or fig buttercup). it is not native to North America but is highly invasive and has spread wildly all over Canada and the US.

Hi Ithoughtofthisfirst

Thank you. I should have known. What confused me is the number of petals (11). The celandine I am more used to is found here

Thanks everyone for the beetle comments!

I'm with you Rodger.... a Tiger beetle should have stripes instead of spots. LOL Maybe it was named after those huge pinchers it has for a mouth.

Apparently, these little critters are good to have around a garden because they eat other pests. Now considering it is only 1/2" long, I'm guessing an aphid might be a meal! Also, they can be metallic green or blue and may or may not have any spots or may have up to 12 spots. Go figure!

I can see the resemblance. The shot itself is a very fine one, with lovely colours and details, all offset beautifully by the black background.
Thank you Roger.

I missed the Snoopy part as my imagination is on vacation today, but it is a very artistic and nicely composed shot Malcolm.
Thank you Jerry. I guess you do have to stretch the imagination some, but I saw the two black eyes and the long floppy ears hanging down.

Very nice. Really like the saturated color.

Very nice Trafford.

I like the Candy Cane colours and the added interest of the raindrops. Thank you for sharing.
