So I went back and took out some of the tonal contrast.
The first one is the best of these IMHO. Maybe you should leave the processing to someone else, or get a new monitor. Your processing leaves these images flat, and won't print well IMO.

Maybe there should be a trail in the pic as this appears like cross country.

My monitor is my work Laptop that I primarily use for the CAD program SolidWorks. I have it setup to optimize that as that's what puts food on the table. Too bright and my eyes explode after a few hours.

I know, in another month or so the wildflowers will be out and the landscape will green up some. Our spring at over 7000ft is about 6 weeks behind what the calendar says.

Also I did have a CPL mounted.
I recall one particular time attempting to use a Hoya circular polarizer to cut the glare from desert-varnished rocks under mid-day Arizona sun. All of my photos came out like yours, with muddy gray colors.

Just curious, did you happen to take any without the polarizer for comparison?

I didn't take any from that view without the CPL. The CPL is a B+W. The shots by the river had no filter attached.

I may try to take a few pictures later on closer to dusk to help with the harsh mid day light.

Since you can't do anything about hte lack of flowers and foliage, I wonder about hitting some of these sites at sunrise/sunset to take advantage of golden hour and maybe get some drama from the sun?

Thanks for replying. I was just curious.

This is straight from the camera only converted to a Jpeg so I could upload it here.

Colors are tough to come by in the high desert/glacial moraine during mud season.

This was prior to moving the tripod to hide my house.

As Sabrina says, "I see what you mean."

And to be quite honest you should be shooting the wild flowers for next year's campaign, not this year's. You seem to be at the worst time for shots and by the time the campaign has run and the visitors are there won't the flowers be out?

However with a bit of jiggery pokery, and a little bit more?

I agree a little bit of advanced notice would have been nice. They contacted me yesterday morning and needed it by Friday. Ugh
