I think this is the first time I'd ever seen an American Woodcock, also know as a timberdoodle, bogsucker, night partridge, brush snipe, hokumpoke, and becasse.

The rest are your average Virginia White Tail Deer... We did see a skunk, a hawk or 2, vultures, squirrels and chipmunks, oh and various songbirds but these were the photos i took.

Nice Timberdoodle shot. They are all over the UP. White Tail looks the same as what I have in my yard. Do they look any different than what you have in Brampton?

I think this is based on the food source. White Tails in the UP tend to run smaller than White Tails in the LP where corn is grown based on the climate. As summers run longer and growing season is extended you may see in many decades ahead where corn may be grown in the UP too but they seem to be content to grow hay in the UP.

Not sure in NC & Va what main farm crops are but MI grows a lot of corn both sweet corn and field corn.

Any ways, all are nice images.

Nice shooting Mike.

Dear Mike , delicate beings are deers.

I like you pictures.

Thanks & regards, Valeriu

Nice photos!

A Q though.. the color seems to similar in all, is that due to the background, sky or some intentional PP..

The sun was fading adding a little colour cast, mostly overcast and yes a reasonably even dull background

EDIT ADD: Also they were shot within minutes of each other

Thanks Valeriu, they're delicate until they hit your car (we've had 2 hit out cars in the past... yes they hit us or rather landed on us, not the other way around... of course neither of them survived.)

Have never seen a timberdoodle. Jim says they are seen in the UP of Michigan. Have not see them there either.

I also agree, that the deer look like those in my Michigan yard. Our deer however, so not have corn to eat, only the foliage in the woods along Lake Michigan. Oh, and of course my shrubs and flowers that my wife plants each year :)
