So, since I am moving from Canon to Panasonic, I am looking for a nice flash solution. In Canon, you can easily find a lot of options that support HSS and TTL, and some even wireless via radio triggers.

I tested the Cactus V6 II and it was very bad. Very inconsistent, specially with HSS.

I also tested the Panasonic and Olympus original flashes, but their system is optical (not radio) so, it is tricky where can you position your flash.

Then I tested the Nissin Air system. And all I can say is: OMG!

The flash and the trigger are so well made, the light is beautiful and clean, and wireless/radio works for TTL and HSS like a charm!

Strongly recommended! :D

Great to know. I've been eyeing that system as well. Although, I was leaning towards the i60A Flash and commander as separate purchases due to the small size of the i60A. I would replace my small Olympus flash for use on my E-P5. Unfortunately, the i60A plus commander is much more expensive.

I got that kit a few weeks ago and really like it too. The flash is only GN48 but that's fine. The kit is less than the i60 on its own. If you need GN60, then the Air Commander is around £80 on top of the flash.

I also bought it.

While the flash itself works very well and the radio communication is awesome, I find it very big and heavy, a bit too big for my OMD EM5 markII.

Also It's plasticky and the flash wobbles a bit in the hot-shoe. Don't you have this issue?

Of course for that price it's a recommended buy, but I was expecting a bit more.

Hey, great news! I´ve been looking for something like that. Would you mind posting a link to a reputable store that has this? I swear I am not being lazy, I just want to see exactly what is it bought... :) .

Thanks!!

I wanted to buy one of these, but I can't find an Australian stockist. Does anybody know of a source?

i60A will be my next purchase for sure. So, I can still use the Di700A as a fill light :D

I never use flashes on the hot shoe. It is an ugly light :(

For me the commander is super tiny and looks great :D

But if you want a smaller one, the i40A is very small... The original Olympus and Panasonic are quite big too.

Does it support high speed sync (or FP in Olympus nomenclature)? I don't see that listed in the specs?

Yes, it does.

I first tested the Nissin i60A and Air 1 for Micro Four Thirds at PhotoPlus Expo in New York City. It worked well with my Olympus E-M1, so I put my name on their list to be notified when they released it.

They eventuallly did release it, but also put out the Di700A with Air 1 kit, for less than the i60A. So I bought the kit, figured I would try it more, and get the i60A eventually if I really liked it. Well, I can say I really like it. I haven't picked up the i60A yet, but it's on my shopping list.

The Di700A is a big flash; it doesn't balance well on camera, but I never shoot with flash on camera. I put it on a flash bracket, or mount it on a stand, or even just hold it in my hand. It does take up a lot of room in my bag. But it also works well with my diffusers.

The i60A is a lot smaller, and would be ideal except for the odd form factor. The head is narrow and flatt on the bottom; it's got compatibility issues with some diffusers. Still, I will be getting one soon strictly for size reasons.

I've seen some mention of an i40a, but all they have now is an i40. Which means you need to get the remote Air controller to use with the radio system. Maybe they will do an update.

There are a couple of additional things about this flash worth considering.

First, it does HSS rather well.

Second (and this is big for me), the flashes can be used with Air 1 commanders for other systems. I have an Air 1 commander for Nikon, and it works great with my Nikon cameras and the Di700A for Micro Four Thirds. So I will likely get an i60A for Micro Four Thirds, and a second Di700A for Nikon. In case I want to connect with a TTL cable.

I see, looking it up on the internet eh? You kids.

Thanks, but I've 'been there, done that'. FVE are an importer that sells to retailers. None of the retailers list the product on their websites, and the retailers list on the FVE website contains seriously out-of-date information (e.g. one of the South Australian retailers hasn't been at its listed location for about five years).

I will wait a couple of months to see if DigiDirect list it (I had a 'chat' with them a couple of weeks ago and at that point they didn't stock it and had no idea when or if they would). I will probably have to purchase it through B&H in the U.S.

I was after one for a project I will do over Easter, but it's too late to get one to Adelaide now.

Just beware that Nissin makes that "Kit" for all major camera brands, like Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc. So, be sure your are getting the Micro Four Thirds kit :D

I use flash on camera a lot. I always bounce it off of the ceiling, wall, or both.
In that case the i40A is the best option. It is very small but quite strong.

The i60A is a little bigger but it supports the Air 1 wireless system.
My plan is to get the i60A and the commander. That way, one flash serves both purposes, on camera small and powerful and remote wireless.

I purchased a few of the i60a flashes and I've been waiting for the new Air10s commander for Micro Four Thirds to be released. I'm getting tired of waiting and considering getting the Air 1 commander.

Anyone else waiting for the 10s?
