Nikon V4-When?

Hopefully in the spring of next year, but certainly by October, 2016 at the latest.

What do you think now?
I think Jon could easily restate it right now as:

'Hopefully in the spring of next year, but certainly by October, 2017 at the latest'!

Ah well, the waiting...
Moving away from the V bodies, did anybody see a native 13/1.x on the horizon? Something level to the awesome 18/1.8 and 32/1.2? (Who has the 32/1.2 here?)
THAT would be terrific news for a change.

I'm sure there was a while ago. More recently there was a patent for a 9mm f/1.8

Persistence pays, here's the 13mm f/1.8 patent, from an August 2015 Nikon Rumors posting:

In the theory of the multiverse, there may an alternative reality where the 1 series was successful and a V4 may be released.

It's a shame but here in the real world there's less than zero chance. A shame because the system had the potential to be a game changer but Nikon cocked it up with over the top pricing, lack of support for a decent flash system, poor sensors etc.

The sensor issue could have been fixed but it's pretty obvious the system has been dumped and Nikon is hoping the DL range will replace it for those who want a 1" sensor based range at a reasonable price, compatibility with CLS, and familiar controls/menus.

Whether they will be successful coming to the 1" compact game at a late(ish) stage remains to be seen.

The only hope is that the DLs will be fantastically successful, prompting Nikon to re-visit the 1 series of ILCs but this is doubtful to say the least.

It's more likely the DLs will be reasonably successful and Nikon will concentrate on these and future iterations to the detriment of the existing system.

And I say this as someone who tried 2 different 1 system cameras but found them not to my liking as either a replacement or complementary to my DX cameras.

So roll on the DLs next year and just pray for their huge success leading to a total update of the 1 system. Anything else will mean the last rites.

And please DPR, make your minds up where these discussions should go :-(

I truly hope we get a proper V series camera. (ENEL 15 and EVF and all)

After my recent post in this forum showing what the old V1 is capable of at Disney World, I can't imagine traveling to a place like that with a big DSLR.

I contemplated getting a J5 for this trip, but decided not to. That turned out to be an OK decision since the EVF was a huge help in not being a distraction while filming and taking photos inside the shows and such. Granted - everyone had their phones out shooting and filming, but I take some comfort in trying to not have a big LCD showing to the people sitting behind me. Plus, I know all my shots and video came out 10x better than the iPhone stuff.

Anyways, being able to have 18-800 mm in a kit that weighs about the same as my D90 and 17-55 2.8 is pretty impressive, and the V1 gives incredible image quality to boot.

J6 with an EVF is all I ask.

J series never had an EVF so you are probably waiting for a V4. Since Nikon didn't announce anything 1" related in the 100th Anniversary announcement, I seriously doubt that there will be a new Nikon 1 this year.

With apologies to those that have seen this before, using the DL24-85 body with CX mount would give a J6 with optional EVF.

J5 on left, DL24-85 (RIP) on right
