I walked around my garden to keep the D200 running with a Sigma 90/macro and Tokina 19-35.

I thought it may give you a break from D500 Pics.

Nice pictures, but I am curious. Is your red channel completely overexposed in the first two photos? I am asking because on the D300, I have to carefully watch the red channel in flower photos -- on D700 slightly less so. I bought a D200 (it has not arrived yet) and I would like to know if it has the same issue.

I'm not sure, I'll check it in the morning and get back to you.

I'm not sure if I'm answering your question correctly but the first three were taken in bright sunshine at ISO 200, the others showing red were in the shade at ISO 100 so I find the D200 can manage reds quite well, some of my other cameras burn out the reds no matter what I do.

Lovely, that's why I'll not part with my d200. The red channle/color has been a know issue. But great results.

I got to get out and shoot more.

gnet158, thank you.

Nice work. D200 holding its own.

Jim

Thank you Jim.

First image, taking original jpg (7.1MP) into Photoshop and looking at Curves Red channel shows this histogram for red. No red over 240 (out of 255 possible).

I will mention that when viewing image this forum it could raise the question of over saturated red. But when I took same image into Photoshop it did not look saturated. Same monitor both views.

If anyone cares, I'll do same for 2nd image.

And, I still have my D200 (and D40x), but it gets little use. It's that my photos today are well served by a Panasonic FZ200

Thank you Tom.

My D200 is still "lost" in transit somewhere. I do look forward to comparing its (red channel) output to my other cameras.

Probably not, but I think they're oversaturated.

This is a Picture Control issue if you are using Nikon software or shooting JPEG. Shoot in Raw, start with Neutral Picture Controls, set Brightness to -1, and it should be fine. The green channel practically always blows out before the red channel, but after applying WB and Standard Picture Control you will often end up with oversaturated reds.

Thanks Tom I appreciate you showing me that, BTW I also have the FZ200 and I'm using it more due to medical conditions.
