Has anyone done any business with KEH (seller of used gear)? Reliable? Would you do it again? Thanks for any input.

I live half a world away from their corporate.

Four years ago, buying several lens from them. No non sense. Fast shipping. VERY good packaging. Lens condition better than described.

Don't know what's now.

My second transaction resulted in a credit card breach.

I haven't bought anything from them since.
A credit card breach stopped you from buying from them again? Seriously, some of the largest retailers in the US have experienced credit card breaches so please elaborate.

This is the KEH lens inspection process and all equipment is guaranteed to work (except for 'As Is'). IMO this is not a cosmetic inspection.

Visually inspect the lens for any wear, damage dents or dings

Rotate focus, zoom and aperature rings through full range

Mounts on camera and check focus at known distances along with AF function and stabilization features

Examine glass for anomalies like haze, fungus, scratches, damage, etc

Assign a grade and confirm description

I've bought 2 cameras and 5 lenses from them in the last year plus numerous accessories. Ratings were spot on for them, if I bought something in EX condition, I have to search for any flaws.

Highly recommend KEH!

In all the years I've done business with them, I've only had one item have an issue - I purchased an 18-200VR Nikon for a trip to France. During the trip, two things happened. Lens stopped focusing closer than about 10-12 feet, and the return limit for my purchase ran out. Sent them an email as soon as I returned to the states and they replaced it for me without an issue.

Home Depot, Citibank, eBay, JP Morgan Chase, Verizon and recently Arbi's have been breached and people haven't stopped doing business with them. Unfortunately this will happen no matter how secure you think a company is.

I've always had good transactions with them both buying and selling. Last month I purchased a 25 f1.8 from them that came just as described. I couldn't be more pleased with the lens.

I've bought and sold with KEH. It was a good, positive experience.

If it was an online purchase, the breach could easily have been at the buyer's end.

It also could have occurred at one of the CC processing companies that a company like KEH will use as there have been hacks at those firms also. I received a call from AMEX's fraud division a few years ago asking if I had made a $600 purchase at Macy's in their kid's clothing department. Someone had gotten my AMEX information so they issued me a new card with a different number. This type of hacking is a common occurrence and I still shop at Macy's. ;-)
