Help making HVL-F43M wireless.

Hello, ive been trying to make my HVL-F43M a wireless slave for my A6300 with the HVL-F20M as the master. The manual doesnt seem to be heling me how to set up my flass. I put the 43 on the camera, set the cameras flash to wireless, took it off (the IR is blinking), put on the 20, I test flashed it and it didnt go off. Here is what the LCD of the 43 says:

WL HSS CH 4/ RMT2

M zoom

105mmc

TTL

Am I missing something for setup?

After you put the 43 on the camera, did you press the shutter halfway before removing the flash. This step makes the camera send the necessary settings to the flash

Once you have done this set up, you can do a test flash by pressing the camera AEL button once (it must be assigned to AEL hold or toggle). The remote flash will fire.

Also, make sure the sensor on front of the 43 can "see" the F20M.
 
Everything was done, and yes I made sure the IR "sees" it. Nothing solved. Ill try one of my F32Ms to see if its the F20Ms problem. Im away from home so ill be back to try it soon.

The F20M can only operate on CH1, so the F43M must be set to CH1 manually with its back panel controls. The camera has to be told to use CH1 too; mounting the F20M on the camera makes that happen.

You should probably also set the F43M to RMT rather than RMT2.

Okay this sounds like it makes sense. How do we manually tell the flash to change channels? Imb trying to read the manual for this.

Press and hold FN on the flash to get into the menu. Probably best to reset it to the default settings.

I never had any issues with this setup. Just connect the transmitter to the camera, set the flash mode on the camera to WL, then power on the external flash and set it to WL as well (mode button).

It should say WL RMT not TTL

THANK YOU!!! I have been trying to figure out this set-up for so long! The manuals are ridiculously lacking and no better on Sony site online. Forever grateful!
