***Weekly Wildlife Thread: Mar 5th - 11th***

Ed, both sets are very nice and the variety is outstanding. Love the Pileated Woodpecker. Are you sure that is not a pet fox. I enjoy seeing your photos of it.

also since I've started to shoot some wildlife it forces me to go home and look up and learn about some of the subject I'm shooting. It recently dawn on me why woodpecker drill holes into tree LOL 😂

Sometimes they are making a nest. I saw the male there today, but he was clever and didn't enter.

Question: What do you do all week?
Answer: Mon to Fri. Nothing, Sat & Sun I rest!

nice, were you able to capture some shot when the eagle took off?
Yes, ne/she was pretty fast, caught me off guard and unfortunately on the other side of the tree, so all the branches interfered and most of the shots were not sharp.

here are a couple of the better ones. the first isn't too bad, but the send has some notable motion blur and I'm panning the camera.

We spent 2 great weeks on the east coast of florida in the middle of Feb. these images are from Merritt Island and Viera wetlands. Taken with either Sony and tamron 150-600 or if hand held then olympus and panny 100-400 lens. I believe it says the detail on the attached exif file.

enjoyed the flying shoots. harder to do when on a tripod.

great collection! haven't seen the carcara and some of the others when we were there in mid -Feb. also notice the breeding plumage on some which again wasn't evident in mid Feb.

like the eagle image.

like the variety of turtles etc.

A cute little bird for your viewing pleasure.

What a GREAT thread! Some simply amazing wildlife shots. Don't think I've ever enjoyed a thread so much.

Thanks to all for taking the time to share these with us. I'm jealous of all the fun you had taking them.

Lovely series, and busy week!

I especially like the caracara, since I don't get to see them, and the skink which was a nice catch. Also, the egret doing the fish toss was perfect timing.

I do have one question - the green heron with the eggs - where was it? I have been looking for any greens with nests close to the paths or boardwalks at Wako and haven't found any...or Green Cay. If it was at one of those, I want to know where so I can look for it.

Nice to appreciate the under-appreciated birds every once in a while! I like vultures - they're a bit ugly, but purposeful, and so rarely does anyone bother to photograph them!

Always a great experience to see these - at least for me (I suppose people in Alaska get sick of them). Nice and well lit up in the tree.

Lovely robin and white throat here...and the nice dark frog in the water. Strange strange winter!

Congrats on the winter wren - and some really nice shots of it too! I expected the usual 'first catch' shots like mine usually look - half covered in branches, ISO6400, and mega-cropped. Yours was in beautiful light and very cooperative. I love that first pileated closeup too - impressive birds to see up close!

Looks like the loggerhead got himself an anole lizard. Nice catch - both you and him.

Lovely series - looks like you got a good sampling of all our winter treats this year - even the mergansers and sandhills (I have to head a bit north to get those two, since they're not at Wako or Green Cay - I can usually find them at Peaceful Waters).

Beautiful little bird, and captured in lovely light too.
