This month through your adapted lenses - February 2017

The rain stopped today and the sky somewhat cleared. Got out for a short time this afternoon.

that is what I call a well edited monochrome with full black and whites and not a mushy grey affair with no contrast. Very nice image
Thanks, it's one bit of advice that has stuck with me - that black and white photos better have some actual black and white in them! ;-)

Before February fades away, here's a quick snap from yesterday's hike. Nothing spectacular, just another example of why I still like the cheap Tokina 17mm f/3.5 fitted to the E-M1 with the Speed Booster, resulting in a 12mm f/2.4 lens (24mm equiv.) that's far from being excellent, but contrasty and actually quite sharp in the centre and at least ok-ish in the corners when significantly stopped down.

This has been a quite mild winter in South West of France.

Biarritz is one of my favourite places to drive to in fair weather conditions.

Again another one with Tamron Adaptall 2 model 04B (200mm F/3.5) shot at F/5.6

OK, I'll bite. Which "corrective filters have you tried, and how have they fared?

I ask as I have a Zeiss Contax Rangefinder Biogon 35mm that I really like and wouldn't mind improving its performance.

It depends on the lens in question, for the Zeiss Biogon 25 ZM you can use either the Proxar 1m closeup lens filter or a Hoya +1, either one will improve the corners of that lens significantly. For the Distagon 35 1.4 ZM we use the OptoSigma 5000PM plano-convex. There is a great summary at : https://phillipreeve.net/blog/rangefinder-wide-angle-lenses-on-a7-cameras-problems-and-solutions/ or you can also check out the thread on the Fred Miranda site in the Sony forum.

Pretty interesting stuff.

i like it

that particular image should sell a few copies of that lens i should think

nice

never get tired of cats, and they seem to suit adapted lenses :)

I looked at basket image 'original size' and I could be entirely wrong but i looks to me like depth of field is also a lot greater than it should be for f1.7. I'm not familiar at all with your lens but i know on my 50mm f1.7 i've gone to focus and inadvertantly turned the aperture ring (more with gloves on for cold - and doesn't look cold in your shot, so...)

just a thought

those are really nice sunstars btw

i'm really liking that crazy contraption

nice image

that is well regarded lens amonst the rokkor ppl (try 'rokkor files' - theres others too)

and your images reinforce that

i plan to get one myself but it's down the list a bit

nice work
