Nothing about K-mount compatibility (sigh)..

Very frustrating. The 24-70 is likely to kill the IQ of the Tamron-based Pentax variant, and Pentax desperately needs any ultrawides for FF, as it needs a modern 50mm (like the ART).

There's quite a bit of writing on the wall now.

Athis point is really impossible to keep pentax only camera. I love the k1 and 645d, the k1 cant be matched by anbrand for photography. But the last lenses and sigma tamron line up is really too tempting.

14 1,8 20 24 1,4 35 50 85 135 1,8 120-300 2,8 24-105 and now the 24-702,8,

add the tamron and we have also a 1,8 lighter line up of primes.

th 24-70 looks amazing and probably will cost less than pentax-

maybe time to add a nikon d810 also and sell the 645d

Sigma is the most idiot company out there....pentax need like crazy primes and they stop doing even if all they need do is change mount, they already did in many lenses so no new engineering....

they not produce for sony also who is growing brand....

they produce for the ir sigma camera who provpbably will sell 1/100 compared to l1 and even less compared to sony.

we must do a petition to support k mount in sigma lenses.

So I`ll start :-)

Dear Sigma-Marketing,

50/1,4 and 85/1,4
8-16 / 18-35 / 50-500

I`m interested in your new lenses. So please reconsider your descision to abandon Pentax.

i doubt they will lose money.

it's a stupid decision and i suspect is linked to the fact that a lot of resources are used to support their mount, a complete failure considering the number of sigma camera sold.
That are the dreams of us Pentax users, reality shows that may be they dont loose money on the other hand they dont earn money. It`s not only Sigma but also Zeiss and Voigtländer.

I also think that they don`t make profit with their SA cameras but it is a Sigma product so you cannot blame them supporting their own brand!

We Pentax users failed to spend enough money in third party lenses - now we have to pay for that ;-)

Sigma has to reverse engineer the AF for any Pentax lens. This means a lot of resources and cost for a small market share. This is quite unfortunate for us, as Sigma is producing some amazing glass the last few years.

Crop or FF, it would have been nice if we had some extra choises in Tamron and Sigma. At least there is the Samyang/Iris/Lowa path, that forgoes AF, but gives some interesting options.

I do not feel restricted in the crop selection of lenses though in our system. In FF though, that might be different if one needs some specific after market lenses. But the volumes are probably low even for Pentax to support R&D and production. That is why I do not cinsider it wrong to rebadge some quality lenses with Pentax's special and class leading coating. Just not ask for a high premium in the final price. 15-30 is a fine example of such a lens selection, but the price should have been kept lower, much closer to the Tamron lens. But we do not know if it was Tamron raising the asking price from Pentax to allow a Pentax version..

not blame me.))

k1 k5 645d 30 lenses included 4 sigma ...ahah

anyway let's see what pentax has up to its slave

i must say that i cover a carnival sunny i had a k1 with a 35 f2, a 55 ,14, a 70 2,4....and i could use k1 with one han and in the other a complete youngnuo 180 with a soft box and a battery pack attached in the other hand...good luck using it with sigma lenses..

Seriously guys I am a loyal Pentaxian since 2009. I have a dozen of analogue bodies. A k10,k5 and I was saving since 2011 to get the Ff that was going to arrive....and guess what I bought k1 which is an amazing(with a decade old autofocus system) camera and then I realise that I made a huge mistake...i realised that I run out of lens options.

Ricoh are we serious here nobody supports our mount not even you. We have a state of the art resolutionwise and I am waiting for Samyang to release a manual lens so I can use with my camera.?

Of course I am crying because Ricoh has no intention to support k mount....why should zeiss or Sigma support it anyway.

No plans for future lens, no announcements....

At least thank you Samyang and flare magnet Irix.

This is pretty much what we are seeing. We have a roadmap, which some like bringing up, but we all know Ricoh/Pentax history with roadmaps.

The writing is everywhere and while the industry moves forward, we just sit and watch.

well in single mode my k1 focus as fast and precise as my sister mark35d....pentax is behind mostly in continuous. mode....anywya speaking about af in a sigma forum is not appropriate...the sigma SAMount af is probably 50 years older compare even to k1.

the rest is true but if you can wait for 14 1,8 you can easily buy the 15-30, price and weight the same....but i suspect you want a lot of lenses for cheap money....and this'd what killed pentax brand in the last years...i remember when they sold the 16-50 for 500 dollar while canikon sold for 1300 dollar same lens....and after pentax raise the price, who was literally near cost of production, everybody complaint...now nobody support has cause pentax user was always looking to spend few dollars for every lenses.

Sorry my friend, if you see my gear you will see that I don't want cheap equipment. If paying 1800 euros for a 900 euros lens(15-30) seems logical to you for me it's not making sense.

I think a lot of Pentax mount Sigma lenses sat on the shelf and stock never sold. So they made the decision a fews years ago to go after lumbering Nikon & Canon with the Art series. This has been successful with the 150-600s since it is a gap in the pro-sumer line up. But 24-70 & 135 is not a gap in the big boy's line up so this might not work as well. If the new 24-70 Art is superior IQ (remains to be seen since it is a zoom) to the Pentax DFA 24-70 and priced better, I think their better market would lie with Pentax mount on those two. A K-mount of their new 100-400 might be received well today. I could be wrong though, and Sigma have been stung in the past trying lenses in this zoom range. Sigma lenses I've bought in the past: 0 for Canon, 0 for Nikon and 3 for Pentax. These days I don't buy many lenses and I have no current plans for any Sigma.
