everytime when I plan to hike I'd struggle between my FF (pentax k-1 + standard zoom) gear vs my m43 (em5ii + 12-40/2.8), I'd say the weight saved gave me much more flexibility to bring more food and water supply which are essential for long hike.

I also like the (lack of) vignette, sharpness and waterpoof on the 12-40/2.8

15km, 5hours hike yesterday:

Actually, on a hike, you'd be better off with the 12-50mm f/3.5 to 6.3 lens. Much lighter and good enough for the type of shots you are taking. 2 out of 3 of your shots were at f/4 and the other one was at f/2.8 but at 1/500sec. 1/250 sec at f/4 would have been OK.
Thanks for the suggestions, I had the 12-50 but sold when I got my 12-40 and I much prefer the sharpness of the 12-40. I noticed the 2.8 shots as well probably was at a hurry for a quick shot so didnt notice I should try 4.0, thanks for the tips!
