Please find below an attempt for the Flaming Star Nebula IC405

Exposure was 160 images a 45 seconds with the XF50-140mm at f=140mm, f/2.8, ISO1600 - corrected for vignetting via flat frames, processed in PI, then rnc-color stretched. Taken straight from my balcony (great with those freezing temperatures ;) )

Also visible are M36 and M38, the smaller and larger open clusters to the left, as well as the "red spot in the top left" that I believe is Sh2-235, a rather prominent HII region. Also visible are IC410 and IC 417, the smaller nebulae to the left of IC405.

While the image below is cropped to show the flaming star nebula, the wider surrounding shows quite a number of Bok globules - will need to invest some more time to get those properly features.

Pleased to see that I am getting quite a bit of fainter nebulae and dust - Unfortunately I seem to have a small issue with my flats that produce the little black spot on the left side which I am unable to correct.

C&C more than welcome as always !

Clear Skies,

Michael.

very nice. this was shot with your X-T1? What sort of mount are you using?

I love the x-trans sensor, BTW. it really seems to capture nebular detail well. I just started using an X-M1 last night, with a cheap mount adapter and some old Nikon glass.

Hi Matt,

glad you like the images - I am also very pleased with Fuji sensor and some of the Fuji glass is very good for Astro work.

it's definitely good to see that cameras other than the ones from canon or Nikon can successfully be used for astro.

For tracking i use the iOptron sky tracker (not the latest version they just released, using the one before that)

All the best,

michael

Nice image Michael - a lot of interesting objects depicted.

I wonder if the star shapes in the corners would improve if the lens would be stopped down a bit?

Regards, Vishy

Hi V!

Thx for stopping over...and yes, I'm quite sure stopping down would improve
but, than I would need a "real" mount and additional guiding, but so far
I just do own one - for my Newtonian reflector, maybe in the future.
;-)

clear skies,

Hi vishy,

thanks for your nice feedback!

@michael s: thanks for replying on my behalf ! It's probably a bit confusing with two michael's in the forum.

I will definitely try stepping down next time - for this time I was more greedy for photons than anything else :)

happy Friday everyone !

Hi Michael M,

You are welcome and looking forward to see more images from you.

@ Michael S - realized some confusion going on but did not reply for worry about extending it :-)
