I'm planning to use a 5700 for astro shots. A friend uses a t-adaptor and I am looking for a t-ring for my Nikon. I am having trouble locating one. Is one available? Or can I do this another way?

Your friend probably uses an SLR camera where you remove the lens. You don't have that option so you will need to get either an eyepiece adapter for the front of your camera, or a threaded eyepiece. Go to the links that Phil put up for you and look at the Maxview 40II eyepiece or the big William Optics 2" eyepiece. Either one of those will screw into the front of your 5700 after you put on the lens adapter. I think on the 5700 it is the UR-E8. Your camera eyepiece combo will then fit any scope that takes a 2" eyepiece. Then the fun begins;-)
