Fuji XT - 5

But if a ski breaks, would she:

- stop skiing

- try to find an identical replacement (new, not 2d hand)

- try a modern replacement and enjoy it for the next 10 years?
Very difficult to break a ski.

Stolen maybe, but who is going to steal a pair of 1980's skis that don't have WIFi connectivity liked to your Iphone through a prepaid app that tells basically that you are a muppet.
you have avoided the principle of the argument .. having to replace them for 'whatever' reason, with denial it would happen. 'nobody would want to steal them'.

Eerrrr hang on a minute.. she is the only one on the planet who wants a set of basic skis?

If they need replacing what would she do.. give it up altogether?

I think you'd have been better setting up a poll and see where your basic camera idea falls within the general feelings of Fuji users in this forum... though most of the replies here tells us 'something'..

That we seem to like the gimmicks that we'll never use?

Bad idea.

Fuji must not take into account all those niche usages. A fully featured camera that sell well is the only way to make the X-mount survive.

You want a camera without video ? Just buy a X-T20 and don't use the video mode (or a X-E2).

Fuji will come out with a XT 5. It might not be named the XT-5 but they will make one.

I can't wait for my new camera.

Fuji if you are listening, the function buttons should be labelled 1,2,3,4,5,6 in two columns.

None of this awkward mess that you have already with function buttons assigned all over the shop.

Well, the intern who was assigned this thread [punishment detail] will by now correctly have concluded that there will be only one buyer, who will not be a repeat customer, and who probably won't be satisfied as he can't really define his needs.

BTW: how old is your current camera? You'rre not going to dump it after only 5 years?

That sounds like a very bad interface. I had a Sony that had identical buttons and dials in rows. It was very hard to set without looking. Numbers would have to be remembered. For the non-luddite who wants to look at the camera to change settings, use of the touchscreen with function descriptions in a My Menu screen instead of numbers would work far better

I don't think DP review forum members are representative of world wide buyers of photography equipment. In fact they are probably an extreme in their purchasing habits. My French father in law loves the output of the XT 10 and its shape size and whatever, but he would never buy it as it is too complicated and fiddly. I am sure he is not alone. He would buy XT 5.

As for me, I never sell my cameras. Well apart from my old Nikon film camera which was the most stupid thing I have ever done. I blame DP review for that. I replaced it with a D70 when it first came out because they convinced me at that time that it was a good idea. I have not checked recently, but what number are we up to now with Nikon ? LOL. I never jumped on that bandwagon of having the need to replace it.

Yes I wait for the ideal camera. I don't want a blue ray DVD drive incorporated in it, gaming apps to play on the LCD screen, or a google browser. I don't want my buttons to be replaced with SiRI or Cortana so that I can tell the camera what to do. I certainly don't want a facebook button.

Simplicity is what we need. Fuji nearly did it with the XT 10, but they needed to take a step backwards with the XT 20 to make a step forward. Not all of us are into the highest number of Megs or 4k video. You can buy the XT 2 for all that stuff.

You are probably correct in this.. however i find that those who buy cameras.. even the 'complicated ones' don't use any of the functions that would give better results. They just look for the full auto setting and then expect their new and, expensive, camera to read their mind on what they want from it. They often bemoan getting rid of their P&S which seemed to perform miracles, in their imagination.

this is either extreme or just provocative.. not sure which way you are going with this statement.

Don't include me in your "what we need" statement. I can use all of the things that the X-T20 will deliver.. touchscreen focus is right up my street for that function.

from your comments in this thread you seem to be ruling yourself out of any new camera. The X-T5 will more than likely have more functions in it that you don't want.. not less.

You could always go back to film.. no preview.. some don't even have meter integration. I sincerely hope you get what you're after.. I just don't see it happening :(

4k video quality is in the same sub-menu than FHD option (doesn't disturb the interface if you don't need it)

Touchscreen can be disabled and won't disturb you anymore.

Higher megapixels counts make no difference in the usage of the camera, especially with the compressed RAW option and the bigger buffer than X-T10.

The only remaining difference is the video position on the Drive button.

Why don't you use the Q menu or Custom menu if you want to hide "complex" features ? or just buy a Leica and pay $8000 for your camera sold at 5000 pieces.

I want Fuji to make capable and competitive cameras at a fair price.

Fuji if you are listening, can you build me this camera....

A weather sealed XT 10/20 type size body with the same specs as the new xt-20 but without...

* Video recording....really not bothered.
that argument comes so often. you always forget one point. a DSLM like the fujis are video cameras that deliver a still when you press the button. that means per definition, a x-t5 without video is stupid cause you would have to deactivate a function that has to be there and you have to pay for anyhow.

I think you want a Leica M10. :)
That is exactly what I want, but the fuji version....and the size of an XT 10.

I will pay for it. I will pay twice for it. Maybe three times. No nonsense camera where my only concerns are lenses.

I am guessing people here are not getting it are they ?

You're expecting Fuji to bend to will of the few when Leica already makes exactly what you want. You're wanting Ferrari to make a Ford Escort when Ford already makes one.

The likelihood of Fuji bending to your will and making the specific camera you want at the expense of their own market share and profitability is as likely as you starting your own company and manufacturing the camera you want.

Since you seem unwilling to buy the Leica which already exists and has the features you want without all the features you don't, and which you say you have the means to pay for, I'm left thinking you're just trying to be provocative and/or trolling.

You can't call someone a troll or provocative because they see things differently. I worry also for the people who agreed with your comments. DP review has become a place for tech idiots.....ok I get that. It was never like that before. It was a cool place to be involved with during the development of digital photography. I guess not now. I am not surprised the English bloke who created the site sold it on to Amazon. LOL. Buy, Buy, Buy.

But you can if you those comments are simply intended to stir the pot rather than add to the discussion. Many of your comments have been right on the edge of that. It's an interesting and lively discussion, so as mods, we've left it alone, but this comment isn't as far off base as you suggest.

Well, I've been hanging around here for 13+ years or so and the development of technology in support of photography has always been front and center. What's made it interesting is the depth of photographic experience and talent that has participated here over the years. And being a photographer who also happens to be interested in the technology surrounding it, doesn't make that person an "idiot." But given your penchant for talking in extremes, this comment doesn't surprise me.

Gee, if it bothers you so much, one wonders why you're still here stirring the pot. I'm sure you're going to think that I'm "over moderating" here, and perhaps you're right. But as a long time participant with DPR, I felt that your comments deserved a more pointed response.

I think you have a conflict of interests 'Mod'. I respect your remarks as a photographer and a contributor.....but as a 'mod' you really need a new job. Or find yourself a sense of humour. Guessing you are American ????

Just out of interest, where have my comments been on the edge ? Apart from the one above LOL

you have sunk to a new low with that comment.. is this your current state of play?

Well, that certainly is a trollish and provocative [though not in a thought provoking sense) comment.
Many here have given comments that are not too technical about why the camera you seem to desire is commmercially speaking unlikely.
There have also been questions about what you actuall want, as you seem not to be very clear on that. Questions you have not answered

AS you only created this account last October, I wonder how long your past here extends?
I guess not now. I am not surprised the English bloke who created the site sold it on to Amazon. LOL. Buy, Buy, Buy.
Funny, there was a now unknwon member who had the nick buybuybuy. Not saying that was you, but two small minds seem to think alike.

And your attack on Jerry is not acceptable.

There is a very fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness.' :'!':
What was the low before ?

My point is (if you don't get it) there is not going to be much of a planet left to photograph if we keep going on this way.

New cameras every five minutes, new boxes, plastic, batteries, resources,, transport and all the rest [content edited].

STOOOOOP ! This is madness.

Wildlife and landscape photographers itching after new cameras. They do my head in. Think about it.
