Used my M5 in Yellowstone on an allday snowshoe tour so wanted to travel light. Only brought my M5 with my 16-35 f/4 L lens and shot handheld and medium thick gloves in -18 Celsius. Kept hitting some other buttons (damn small buttons) but overall very happy how the little thing handled cold weather and extreme DR, I'm at over 7000 feet altitude, clear sunny day, no filters (besides UV), unprocessed image.

Exactly why I bought into the M system. Great shot of one of my favorite places.

Beautiful.... but that lens bulks you right back up again... you're gonna need that M 11-22mm

current kit: 5DsR, 5DmkIII, 16-35/4L is, 24-70/2.8L II, 24-105/4L, 70-200/2.8L IS II, 70-300/4.0-5.6L is, 100 macro/2.8L, 50/1.2L, 2x III extender, 1.4x III extender, 9x550ex Speedlites, Phottix Odin Flash Triggers, Canon EOS M5
Well, sorry but you're wrong, the M5/16-35 L combo was so much smaller and LIGHTER than my 5DIV combo so I had more room for fluid and ditching/adding clothing. I have the 11-22 lens but had only so much room packing stuff (I know, the lens is very small) and I knew the 16-35 is an excellent lens.

...but the DR of the 80D /M5 sensor is from photo developing on a computer and using iso 100

You'd have even more room, if you left the 16-35 at home, and brought the 11-22 instead. On the M5, the 11-22 performs just as well, if not better, than the 16-35, and is considerably wider. Do you have any other EF-M lenses?

I needed the 16-35 for my FF body and my 11-22 was so new to me I didn't have any experience with it and I had very limited space of what I could bring on the plane ( I know, the 11-22 is very small and light). Also have the kit 15-45 which I'm not that impressed with. Next looking at the 22 so will have to pack even lighter for an upcoming overnight backpacking trip.

What's up with the bright white dots?

Look in the shadow area toward the bottom right. Also, around the rocks on the cliff face.

There are bright white dots -- looks like hot pixels.

It is called snow.

Then why none in the sky, eh?
Angle of reflection ring a bell? Haven't you ever photographed in snow and sunlight before? Or even sunlight reflecting on water?

Very nice, indeed.

A little boost of saturation would help, I think.

Thanks for sharing.

It's not hot pixels, it's is snow swirling in the air and lit by the sun. Have another picture with lots more snow glistening in the air, beautiful.

Thank you, I purpously didn't do any PP on this image, it was just to show how the M5 handled the weather.

No, it's how the jpg settings in the camera deal with processing the raw data. Every jpg is processed.
I said I didn't do any PP, I know the camera does an "in-house" processing!

The 22mm won´t dissapoint you, it´s and excellent lens.
