Has anyone understood what does "continuous" option do and how to operate it, because I don't quite get it?

Yes.

Go to the custom menu, and turn on continous.

You can leave it set this way all of the time.

When you press and hold the shutter button, the camera will take approximately 1 photo every 1.5 seconds until the shutter button is released. I tested mine indoors with both SD and MS, and saw no difference in speed between the media (although I have not tested it with any of the high speed -- 10mb/second SD cards).

Note: for my test (indoors w/no flash), the camera was using a 1/4 second shutter speed, so the slow shutter speed may have contributed to the times.

You can also use this mode with flash. At close ranges (approximately 4 feet), I have clocked 1 flash photo every 2.1 seconds (even though Konica's stated flash recycle time is 5 seconds). This is because the camera is "throttling down" the flash at closer ranges, allowing faster recycle times.

It does not hurt anything to leave the camera set up this way (no need to change back and forth). I've never had a problem accidently taking more than one photo, leaving it set this way.

Still, if I have it off and keep the shutter button pressed it still takes picture one after another. I don't see any difference.... :(

contributed to the times.

Hmmmmm...

Well, perhaps I'm misunderstanding what the continuous menu choice is for.

I guess I'll have to try and read the manual (again). LOL

Perhaps the menu choice is for continuous focus.

Good idea, I'll check it out. As far as I saw in the manual they don't explain what it is but rather guide you how to turn it on. On the other hand, there is a specification table at the end of the manual and they claim there that there is continuous shooting mode... Go figure :(

Here's the deal:

If you do not set continuous to ON in the custom menu, the camera will still take photos until you release the shutter button.

However, it's refocusing, and remetering between every shot, and it's signficantly slower in operation this way. You can move the camera while it's taking photos, and hear the lens refocusing between shots (even though you are not releasing the shutter button).

With continuous turned on, it does not remeter and refocus between photos, using the focus information gathered when the shutter button was initially depressed.

Makes sense, thanks Jim. I think these guys should improve their technical writing department...

One other observation:

I clock 1 photo every 1.5 seconds with continuous mode turned on.

I clock 1 photo every 2.7 seconds with continuous mode turned off.

This does NOT mean that the Konica's autofocus is taking 1.2 seconds to focus (2.7 - 1.5 = 1.2).

With continuous turned off, the camera is also displaying the last photo taken briefly, before refocusing and taking another photo. When continuous turned on, it does not briefly display the last photo taken in the series.
If you do not set continuous to ON in the custom menu, the camera
will still take photos until you release the shutter button.
