Are the features/improvements over PS 6 worth moving to the subscription plan? Thanks.

Depends on what you really need.

If you need a digital nosejob then CC2017 is for you. If you need solid editing tools and not dumped down search features then cs6 isn't bad either.

If you are missing something in cs6, why not look at the really good (commercial) plug-ins available? Some plug-ins are way better then what CC2017 has to offer. You can buy quite a few really good plug-ins for a subscription model of €750 a year.

I am still on cs6 and recently purchased the Affinity suite. With both I can do what I need and more, since Affinity photo has some unique features wich CC2017 lacks and at €40 (perpetual) way cheaper then any Adobe subscription.

True, Affinity products are a work in progress, but most tools are allready more solid then any first Adobe product.

I like both, cs6 and Affinity products, but I find the upgrades to the CC type of software very meager and Affinity updates are very swift. In time, when I think the Affinity products are mature enough, I might make the complete transition.

I like the software Adobe makes( but the recent updates are nothing to write home about) but not the recent commercial decisions. Read: going subscription.

If you read the Affinity forums, apperently a lot of other people(both professionals and amateurs) think alike.

In future Adobe might lose some (more) customers.

Competiton for both Lightroom and Photoshop are more apperent.

I'd say yes after already using it. But if you would take a few minutes to look up the added features that aren't included in your version. You'd know if it's worth it or not. I'd recommend researching before getting it though considering it may be nothing you need.

CS6, already paid for, upgrading to a subscription service that continues to cost money for all time?

It wouldn't be worth it to me. It might for a professional though, who could write it off as a business expense.

I'm using Adobe Creative Suite 2, and can't justify upgrading from that. :-D

The single most useful thing to me about CC is being able to use ACR as a filter. Other stuff, not so much- YMMV
