Hello Everyone,

Hope everyone had a good first week of the New Year.

Very rainy this week in SoCal so nothing new. Stuck around the house and relaxed. And that contentment led me to the kinds of images (for me) this week. Nothing too special but to make Jerry happy are 3 images from Portland, Oregon, specifically the Rose and Japanese Gardens on a predominantly overcast and slightly rainy day in late July. The first is the color purple. From what I recall there was no modification of any color from RAW…probably processed with the dreaded ACR. The last 2 are of the Japanese Garden, the last a Japanese Sand Garden. The only issue with the last is the darn railing. I purposely did not remove it from the image since the subject is a Zen garden. All images taken with my first X-T1 and the 10-24 f/4.

Have a great week and be sure to post lots of images!

Bob

The Color Purple -- I was struck by the beautiful deep and rich color of the rose.

Shot at the Secret Sidewalk, was a lot of fun. Here are some keepers from the outing. Love the 23/1.4!

I'm notorious for being a bokeh whore but tried stopping it down to f8 a few times. Turned out well!

Hello, again,

This morning presented a morning winter haze and as the sun was beginning to rise in Southern California there was a double lenticular cloud over a slightly dusted Mount Baldy. It is not something we usually see here but it presented a photo moment. From my balcony, cropped, and purposely left a little darker to reflect the actual amount of light. X-T2, 50-140. Initially processed in Iridient.

Just noticed the date/time is off in the EXIF. It was taken Jan 8 at about 7 AM.

Bob

While many of you are already up this is what I saw upon awakening.

Some shots that I like changing White Balance from Auto to Tungsten. The images are jpeg OOC using Classin Chrome film simulation. I personally hate the orange tone of tungsten lights in auto WB , so this setting is much more pleasent to my eye (although blues become really blue, yes.... Anyway, it was shot at blue hour!)

Love the water garden especially - be great for IR.

Very cool and nice processing. I'd be tempted to crop out the buildings at the bottom, but that's just me.

Took this shot on the way back from Canada in November. I saw it on the way North and knew I needed to stop on the way back to get a picture. I was standing on a bridge with no pedestrian access, so I didn't have time to do much but find a spot and get a few shots in.

Converted to B&W in camera (x100S), the jpg is SOOC with no other post editing done.

Thanks. I just came back from seeing the movie, Arrival. I don't want to spoil the plot but the image goes well with the end of the movie. Here is what you suggest and it may be better.
