I bought the M5 kit on 20 December and used it extensively to take holiday pictures and videos.

The color of the photos is better than my 7D and the videos of several action and low light sequences very good. I was impressed how good the new tracing system is when I took handheld video and photos of a aircraft flying over and of the worlds most dangerous rubber duck race.

I took several videos of a band playing in very low light and also at our Christmas dinner. They are bright and clear whereas the 4K video of my new Panasonic video camera is grainy even with the video light on.

When I took photos and video of the boats coming out of the water at speed, they were in focus with the tracking system. Where they lost focus, I could very quickly acquire the subject and stay on track with the touch screen focus.

Just love this camera as a can do all camera on my motorcycle.

Here are a few of the photos.

I agree with you. I have a 1DX ii and a 5DIV and I never expected the M5 to match either of those. But it fulfills the need for a capable small camera that I can easily carry around and one that so far takes great photos. In the end, that is all that matters. I especially like the ability to take one handed photos since I am frequently walking a dog or sometimes you just need to reach up or over things and for that this camera is great.

People need to understand their camera's capabilities and limitations and take the right tool for the job. The value of the M5, being light and compact, is you can always take it with you, alone or as a complement to the big heavy ones. Maybe for a goof I'll put my 400 DO II on it and see how it does. Very glad I got one.

:) Sample please of the 400 DO II !

That lens is small, for what it is. Wish Canon did a EF-M DO offering. Maybe in the next 10 years... Never know.

I hear the 400 DO II is (very) sharp, true?

The 400 DO II is very sharp. It is a great lens. I had the original 400 DO and the II is a fast improvement in both sharpness and contrast. Supposedly Canon is bringing out a 600 DO this year. I saw the prototype in NY a couple of years ago. That would be a great lens but would probably cost as much as a small car.

I have also tried several of my other lenses with the adapter. The 50 mm prime and the 11-35 mm F1.8 II L. It works fine and is quick. Will give the 100-400 L a spin in the future.

An 11-35mm 1.8L II? Huh?????

Apologies, It was the 16-35 lens. My bad.
